Hi, my name is Richard (RIKI). I've just join the site, and having trouble displaying some of the post and stickys as well as replying to some post. I have a 2007 VTX 1300 R and going to go to the Darkside this winter. 90% sure I will use the General Grabber UHP 205/70R/15. Price is important and looks are very important. Tire Rack seems to have the best prices as far as I seen so far. Hope to be riding on the Darkside by spring. I welcome any comments on my choice.

Good choice on bike and tire. Lots of people like it. I tried a 205/65/15 but couldn't get it seated. I know others have though. I know you'll enjoy it.

Thanks for the reply, I'm really not 100% decided on the size or the make of tire I do want to go to a 215/70/15 or 205/75/15 but both of these sizes limit makes of tires to use. Also I believe I would need to do some modifications to the swing arm to get them to fit. I'm not really sure I want to do this. Thanks again.

No modifications are needed for the 205/70/15. The 205/75/15 is to tall and can cause problems. I wasn't sure I would like it when I made the switch so I went to wallyworld and got the cheapest tire I could. Worked great even with a seperated belt, but could never get rid of the high speed wobble. Bought a little better tire and what a differance. Take your time and do your research. We will be here to answer any question.

I have heard from two friends that thier General tires had separated plies and had to return them both twice to Wally's for an upgrade to another brand.
Are these tires made in China? Cool

General Tire is part of Continental Tire North America, Inc. They are based in Charlotte, North Carolina,
they used to have a manufacturing plant in Waco.
I've got about 10,000 miles on my Grabber without a problem, and it still looks new!

Good news indeed. Years ago I had Firestone tires on my truck and the had an enormous recall on certain types. I had four of those. They replaced them at no cost. I was impressed. I actually didnt know any tires were manufactured here in the USA except truck tires. Cool

Congrats with becoming a Darksider RIKI and welcome to the site.
You might have lurked around, so you'll probably know you're doomed. Wink
I would say go with the 205 on a stock rim.
A 215 will fit the swingarm without modifications.
Good to have you hear and have a good x-mas. 🎅
