Double Darkside on an 1800c
Hi!
I posted this a response to a thread I was reading. But I think it was in the wrong place. Hope this is the right one.
My 2007 VTX1800c (130/70 R18 front 180/70 R16 rear) is about to finish its stock Dunnies, and am interested in Double Darksiding (never do things 1/2 way)
I figure the GYTT 205/60 16 is a safe bet and I like the design of it. Maybe a Potenza grid. Leaning hard toward the GYTT.
It's the front I can't sort out for Double Darksiding. Tire specs say Radial. Does this mean mount a radial rear backwards on front or shift to bias?
Any information would be useful as I am working with supposition and curiousity rather than fact and experience.
Thanks
- dave

Re: Double Darkside on an 1800c
Dave,
We really don't recommend the double darkside using a car tire on the front or at least I don't! We do have some wingers say they are trying it, but I aint sure yet that it will work because of the narrow chicken strips I have on the front of my 1300C, I would be afraid of getting on the side walls as aggressive as I ride.

Maybe I'll just try a Metz from and a GYTT rear. I was so hoping I could get something with some real meat on the front of the beast. My stock dunnie wore out in less than 4k miles. When I get the rear CT on, I can officially join the darkside. Does it come with a red lightsaber?

A lot of people refer to double darkside as putting a rear mt on the front. It works but don't forget to reverse the direction arrow.

yeah, I'm not sure what to say until we get a little clarification! Are you wanting a CT on the front as well? I dunno if you could even find one that would fit!

I was speaking of putting a Rear MC tire on the front with rotation arrow backwards - but my bike uses radial tires.... so I was uncertain what sort of rear tire to use. Bias or Radial?
Trying not to pull a Vader and die darksiding by putting the wrong sort of tire on

RE DOUBLE DARKSIDE on 1800

Went GYTT 205/60/R16 and a Bridgestone BattlAx bt-45 (Rear pointed anti-rotation) 130/70/18 - fun and weird at the same time.
Thanks for the info
