Southbound 2 ...The ride for Rick V
Just got back home from Hattiesburg , Mississippi we rode " Southbound 2 " to go see Rick V who was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash back in December.Rick is looking good Sweet Tea and Punisher and taking good care of him. He is still a long way from well but after his crash we thought he might not make it.Allan & Lisa thanks again for the awesome hospitality and opening your home to us. Warlock / Punisher thanks for the close to 300 mile ride thru the Mississippi countyside I really enjoyed that ride Saturday.I look forward to the next time we hook up and share the wind. This was a hellofa ride it was 10 degrees when Detn8er and I rolled out of Tennessee friday morning . On the way down we hit freezing rain on the 500 mile ride .I had alittle over 1300 miles for the weekend.

Re: Southbound 2 ...The ride for Rick V
Good update on Rick V; glad he is hanging in there. Proof positive of the power of prayer and probably a lot of will power of his own. Keep us posted as things progress.
Thanks for the pictures...was there about two years ago while coming back from the Hoot.

Glad to hear Rick V is getting better and has good folks looking after him. I definately like Marks attitude, so many people would of stressed and hurried home to do nothing. Lets ride.
Looking forward to making out your way Smokinjoe, some time this summer
See you out there

It will probably never happen since I get no vacation or sick time here. If I wanna go I gotta loose money, plus spend the money to go, so it cost me double. But if I ever get the chance, I'll give you a shout.

Re: Southbound 2 ...The ride for Rick V
SmokinJoe, I dont know if your group is planning another ride back to Hattiesburg soon but I wanted to give you the details of our upcomming ride incase yall are in the area. I'd love to meet ya.
Smokey, too bad you're not say a few extra days.
Warlock, and who ever else is interested. All are invited.
Louisiana & a few Mississippi VTX'ers ride to Hattiesburg MS. Sunday Feb 24th.
MACK'S WEST 12 noon, in Hattiesburg will be the official location of the Feb. Meet & Greet!
7329 U S Highway 98
Hattiesburg, MS 39402
Ride to follow the meal.
Here is a suggestion for the ride after the meal.
Leave Macks and go East about 1 mile on Hwy 98, then right on Hwy 589 and South to Purvis, then right on Purvis/Baxterville Road to Baxterville, right on Hwy 13 for about 1/2 mile, then left on Gulf Camp Road, then right on Clear Creek Road to Hwy 43, then South on Hwy 43 to Hwy 26 at Crossroads, then right on Hwy 26 crossing over Pearl River into La and becoming Hwy 10, then stopping at the first truck stop on the left in Bogalusa. Should be about a total of 70 miles from Macks to here. As I stated just a suggestion, if another route is chosen, fine with me, I just want to ride!

You are going to be so close to The Tail Of The Lizard . Our ride was almost 300 miles through the Mississippi countryside . I dig that area

If you're a Skynyrd fan you can ride out by the farm near Mcomb where the plane went down . We rode down to Florida back in Nov to see Van Zants grave then the farm in Dec. I had about 3,800 miles in 2 months on those rides.

Re: Southbound 2 ...The ride for Rick V
It is locally called "Red Bluff Road". Officially it is Mississippi Highway 587, from Columbia to Monticello, both great terminals.
The bluff itself is where erosion has found soft clays. These bright clays are exhibited from the ridge's heights to the valley of the Pearl River below. The colors are striking. The view of the Pearl River Valley is beautiful. The quietness, augmented by the common breeze is relaxing. It is a great place to take a break, eat a picnic lunch or just enjoy. I chit you not this road will hurt you if you push it .

Suddenly it all makes sense. Thats where Rick V. got hurt, I recognize the pic from your other thread. Well if I ever do the tail of the lizard with you I will make sure to ride at my own pace and see you at the end of it. I Almost became a hood ornament trying to keep up with Smokey in some twisties after only having my bike a few months. This Retro model isn't as nimble as that dirt bike I rode in the 80's. Took me a couple of times to figure that out.
Any updates on Rick?
