Tire Help---Stranded in Florida

Hey,

I'm doing a large cross country tour with my wife and we will be spending the next few days in Titusville Florida. On Sunday I went out to lunch with a group from a forum and during the ride after lunch, I picked up a nail in my rear DS tire.

The reason that I'm writing this sob story is that I need to borrow a jack from someone in the area. I'm very competent in working on motorcycles and would prefer to do my own work. I will be here until Friday and would like to get the tire changed ASAP.

Also, does anyone know where in the central Florida area I can get the DS tire patched and remounted?

Got a phone call coming to ya'. Plug it! Wally world has the kit for about $10. I have plug mine quite a few time...no issues.
You don't even take the tire off! Do it right there and take off riding on your way.

Thanks for the phone call. I will definitely consider plugging it. If I can find a jack, and can take the tire off, than I will patch it. I think it is safer, more permanent. But If I can't, a plug will be my next resort.

They make a mushroom plug which acts like a inside patch once installed I have used them on mc tires with good luck.RIDE SAFE Larry S.

do you have a spoke rim???? if you do then you need to replace the tube .

I found a guy in cocoa who works in Titusville that is going to bring his jack to work tomorrow and allow me to borrow it.

BTW ... I was born and raised in Payson, UT. I love to visit just to see those mountains! My favorite rides were the Nebo Loop, and if I needed a quickie, I'd just run all the way around Utah Lake (Lehi to saratoga springs to Elberta to Santaquin). Love those mountain rides!!! I just wish my wife would let me do a solo ride up there. She's not a big fan of me doing that kind of ride alone.

After taking this trip (Utah to Florida), I'm more and more convinced that I live in one of the most beautiful areas of the country, with some of the best riding roads.

I've got the tire fixed and back on the bike! Thanks!
