Valve Adjustment
Scaring 9000 miles and was wondering if anyone has gone more miles without a valve adjustment? I have heard both pros and cons on this matter. Dealer tells me to wait until 10,000 miles???????????? Course I am only a grand away so don't guess it will matter that much if I wait for the 10K. What are your thoughts on this issue. Those of you have been there and done that. Thanks for your input.

Re: Valve Adjustment
Eh...i checked mine at 9k...i was over the 8k interval I know...anyways...now getting close to 18k.
At the 9k check all were spot on but one...it was only .01 from the required .06.
I'll be checking mine sometime soon....before 25k at least.

Re: Valve Adjustment
Do all my own wrenching, and have not had to adjust them yet. I now have over 54,000 miles on her, plan on checking them at 60,000 miles.

Re: Valve Adjustment
Checked and adjusted mine at 9,000 or so and the exhuast valves were a tad on the tight side, but intakes were spot on.
It's not too hard, just take your time and all is fine.

Re: Valve Adjustment
When I bought mine the service manager told me the only thing I would ever have to do is change the oil. Said he has never had to adjust the valves on any 1300. Sounds good but I will still check them.

Re: Valve Adjustment
I have over 15k miles and never opened the top end up. I am not abusive to the bike and it doesn't feel or ride any different than the day I bought it. I guess I need to at least check them some day (maybe when my rear tire wears out?)

If you don't ride that rear tire hard, it could be 10k mi. before you check them.
