Hey Guys,

I'm knew here and I'm thinking about coming over to the Darkside. Just wanted to know the best CT for a 2002 1800R, size and pressure to run. I want to use my existing stock rim and not do any other modifications if I don't have to.

Thanks for your help

The tires I hear the most praise for are Michelin HE, and Toyo T1R, but the later is only available in a low profile 55 series. If you want to stay with the same stock height, Michelin 205/60-16 is good, or go a little taller and make your speedo more accurate than stock with the 205/65-16. Toyo T1R 205/55-16 is a damn good tire but it will lower your ass end some, and make speedo worse unless you have 1300 final gears. There's many good tires available, but these are my picks for a no clearance mod tire. The pressure is for you to decide, experiment a little bounce Good Luck & Have Fun

Best CT and Size for 02 1800R Empty 1800 R

Post  colopaddler Mon Oct 20, 2008 12:23 pm

hi, i have a vtx 1800R 2002 and 3,000 miles ago i went to a Michelin Hydro edge 205/65-16. I have never been happier. I ground the fender rails 1/4 of an inch on the last 3 inches of the rail (only because i ride 2-up) other than that, the tire fit fine and no rubbing . i am running 42 psi and may go to 44 because of the 2-up. the ride is much softer than the m/c tire, however i feel like i am riding on a rail as it sticks the corners much better and i have not experienced any of the quirks that some report at low speeds.....cheers, scotty

i also have a 02 VTX 1800 R spoke wheels, i just ran across this site and had to sign up! I've had the VTX for only 6 months now. it's parked for the winter so i can start changing things. like the Ultimate Big boy 3 piece i just received.so tell me are you just using stock rims with these car tires? tubeless? and what changes can i expect to have to do to stuff one of these bad boy's in there? anyone daring to change the front tires too? what are you matching with up front? i really like the looks on the rears of your bikes. looking bad to the bone! i will defiantly be doing the change over when my rear goes. Thanks! can't wait till spring to melt down the old MC tire! cheers

I went with a Solus HP4 205/60/16 from Discount Tires. I did not have to grind anything on the inside fender. It fit perfectly. I guess it is mental, but my confidence when I am making turns has increased.
