What is on there now ? if you want to go wide side then a 205 is about the widest you can go without mods.
I have a 1300c but i did some mods to shoehorn a 215 in there.

i have a regular Metzler on it now. but will be looking to replace with a car tire. Standard size should work.

A common tire for these X's is the 165-80-15, another and my favorite is the 205 (65 or 70) 15

See you out there

Car Tire For Rear Empty 205-70-15 general Grabber UHP - help

Post  Legman Mon Aug 25, 2008 5:39 pm

Troubles - I tried mounting the grabber on the spoke wheel (tube type)- (VTX1300s). I could not get the bead to seat correctly. Ended up trying to use air preasure, blew the tube and split the tire. I now have the wheel from the (R) model. cast wheel tubeless type. Will a tube be needed to in the cast wheel?

Looking to try this again, but pointers / details are needed.

You shouldn't need a tube with a cast rim. Here's how I did it on my 1100

https://mcdarksiders.forumotion.com/honda-vt-1100-f16/dark-side-tire-mod-for-vt1100c-2004-honda-spirit-1100cc-t573.htm

Not sure if the 1300 guys have done one of these yet....

One other idea for you. take the wheel off. take the wheel and tire to your bike shop and have them put it on. If they give you any guff, tell them it's for a drag bike. Most shops just charge $20 or so and balance it too.

.
was there much of a problem mounting the tire back on the bike? looks like the tire would be wider than a normal General Tire.
