I'm considering going over to the darkside with my '06 VTX 1800N. However, I'm wanting to also change my rear wheel out to an 18" RC Component Royale wheel. With an 18" wheel, I've found that the closest tire height to my stock tire would be a 215/45-18. I was wondering if the 215/45-18 tire would work or would it rub againt the Neo's rear fender?

You're going pretty far afield of the average 1800 person's experience. My initial reaction on the 215 isn't to worry about the fender, but to wonder if it would fit in the swing arm. Most of us with 205s are REALLY close to the swing arm in particular on the shaft side.

+1 Morgan

I have a 205 on my Neo and I can't swipe a credit card between the axle and the tire. I'm sure that could be modified, but that's a lot of metal work.

If you do have to cut anything, it will have to be the frame that holds up the fender. I grinded mine alittle more than I should have especially knowing how close the axle is now.

With the 215/45-18 tire, it's diameter is 25.6 inches versus say a 205/60-16 which has a diameter of 25.7 inches. So, I'm hoping that it should work. What are your guys thought?

Mike.....I think the 215 is going to not just rub your fender, but the swing arm also which is another issue! JMO! I think the 205 is the way to go for you!

Is there a 205 tire that fits an 18" rim that you guys can recommend? Thanks.

I don't know of anyone that makes a 205/45/18 or even a 205/50/18.....
Good luck with your search......I thought the 18" rim was for the front...

Hi nodakbassmaster,

So you are running a 215/45-18? Did you have to do any mods to make it fit or does it just fit?

Thanks,

Mike

Thanks horseman8m for the link. I know that I don't want to modify the swingarm.
