Choosing my first CT Empty Choosing my first CT

This will be the first CT for VTX (1800C). Just wondering which is the closest tire size to stock,to keep the speedo right. If i go with a 205/55/16 will I lower the bike alot and will I see low end performance gains as well as higher freeway rpms and if so how many.

I do about 60% city driving and the rest running about 75mph and I always seem to be searching for that 6th gear at 75. So I dont want a bunch more highway rpms. I know alot of you run alot of highway with the 55 series tires how do yall feel about it.

Thanks

I'm running a 205/65/16 Michelin HydraEdge. I'm within 3-4mph now on my 1300C with the 1800C wheel/brake setup.

Not sure about how close the 205/55/16 would get you though.

I run the 55. The highway RPM's are a bit higher. I think the speedo error is like 7 or 8%. My Potenza RE-01R handles like a DREAM and it's got a profile that's a lot more motorcycle-tire-like than a lot of other car tires. I'm putting a 1300 final on my bike, and my understanding is that the combo of the two pretty well trues the whole schebang up.

I don't find the speedo error or RPM's to be a big deal, but I don't do a TON of constant speed highway driving. What I understand from another darksider who tried the 1300 drive was that he felt that he either ran high RPM's in 4th or lugged in 5th when riding with other riders @ 65-70, but LOVED the drive at 75+ when riding alone. I'd guess at 75+ it'll actually get better gas mileage than the stock drive. But this is speculation until I get a chance to get it a try.

I have taken a longer trip...Dallas to Houston, and felt that with the 1800 drive and the 55, the RPM's were higher, but not egregiously so.

I was thinking of either a Falken ZiexZE-512 205/60/16 or a Cooper Zeon 2xs205/55/16 and last Potenza G009 205/60/16

Any thoughts on these tires.
The tire calculator on discount tire says the 55 series at 65 is actually 63 does that sound about right.

Smokin'joe has over 40,000 on the Zeon 2xs.
Check this thread to see what kind of miles people are getting...

The 1300 drive will change the rpm by about 230 at cruiesing speed.
I have the 1800 in my 1300 and love the lower gears.
