205 on a 1300S rim?
Just noticed that my stock Dunlops are wearing thin. Entertaining the thought of going to the Darkside. I like the General Grabber 205/70R15. Am I going to be able to get this to go on the stock S rim? Not planning on sealing it, so would be using a tube. Any other issues that I need to be concerned with?
Thanks in advance.

Re: 205 on a 1300S rim?
Im running the 205-65 I m sure the 205 70 will fit OK.
I just dont like the idea of running a tube, I dont know if the tube will hinder the beading or not on the S rim. One of the other guys had a problem with the Zeno and Im thinking it was the tube. If you have a problem getting the tire under the fender, you can drop the shocks and drop the swing are and it will give you more clearance.

I'm also trying the darkside. I'm adding a Falken Ziex ZE-512 205/65R-15 94H B to my 1300s. I am gonna seal the rim. my question is you say if you drop the shocks you will have more clearence... I have 11" progessive shocks do you think these will cause a problem? I think the stock shocks are 12.5" THANXwayne wrote:Im running the 205-65 I m sure the 205 70 will fit OK.

Not sure about 11 in. shocks I have standard. I wouldnt be afraid to try it. I dont think you will have a problem.
If you take the shocks loose and lower the swing arm it makes it eaiser to get the tire under the big finder of the R and S model, and then raise it up into place. Its not a problem getting the 205 65 under the fender, It just makes it eaiser for some guys.

Josh,
I am with wayne on this one. If you don't seal the rim, NO ONE has been able to put a 205 on a S rim with a tube yet! They can mount a 165/80/15 all day long with a tube on an S rim, but NOT a 205! Can't say it can't be done till it's done! No one thought we could mount 205's till I did it at the time.
But you are going to have your hands full if you try it and just know this. You might NOT succeed.
Good luck....................bobby
ps....Don't forget mounting a car tire is the most dangerous thing you can do because of the seating of the bead. It will take a lot of pressure. SO BE CAREFUL AND HAVE IT DONE BY A PROFESSIONAL, if you skills are with mounting tires doesn't come from experience already.

Kermitdog,
You shouldn't have a problem with the 205.....if you do just let the air out of the tire when you install it and then air it up. So far it's the 1800's that have clearance issues and not the 1300 guys.

Re: 205 on a 1300S rim?
I would consider a bigger tube that stock. No one has succeeded, yet, but I don't think anyone has used a different tube.
Re: 205 on a 1300S rim?
Thanks Bobby, that's what I thought, but needed to hear it straight. From what I've read, sealing the rim sounds like a straight forward process.twin1300 wrote:

Who do you suggest going to that can/would mount a CT on a bike? I was talking to the dealer today about possibly ordering Metzelers and bounced the CT idea off of him - he looked at me like I was on drugs. I'm thinking the dealer might not be the best place to go to have this done.

If you remove the wheel yourself
some small car tire shop can do it.
Call and ask around
