Trying a Bridgestone DriveGuard
Just by way of sharing.....
I'm on tire #4 in my quest to find the right balance between handling and longevity. I got only about 12k on the Goodyear Excellence I just took off. I wore about 1/32 more in the center than the outside edges, at 30 psi.
So, over the weekend, we mounted a Bridgestone DriveGuard. Going to run it at 28 psi unless it feels funny. Interesting thing about this tire is that it has 12/32 tread instead of the 10 or 10.5 of the other tires I've tried and it has the same diameter. Bridgestone also claims this tire has a "softer" sidewall than normal run flats. I don't know...seemed pretty darn stiff to me when we put it on.

Re: Trying a Bridgestone DriveGuard
There it is...double-dark on the dragon. Obviously, I'm posting this from beyond the grave...because I died a flaming death.
The DriveGuard handled everything the Appalachian mountains threw my way...no issues. 28 lbs the whole time. I never felt like I needed to adjust. The only time it got squirrely on me was when I got absent minded and dumped the clutch a little hard into second gear as I was downshifting into a tight turn. I think any tire would have...just a very short-lived slip and it grabbed right away.
