Profile effect
I am trying to get my head around a basic concept on how rear tire profile is going to affect performance and ride.
Basically if you took two hypothetical tires, lets say a 225/65/16 and a 225/50/16, how will their relative performance compare. Cornering, ride, wear, etc. I'm just looking for your general thoughts. You ain't got to prove nothing. :-)
For comparison, the tire sizes above are as follows.
225/65/16 - Width=8.86" ; Sidewall height=5.76" ; Diameter=27.52" ; Revs per mile=733
225/50/16 - Width=8.86" ; Sidewall height=4.43" ; Diameter=24.86" ; Revs per mile=811
So what do you think?

Re: Profile effect
I've run a 55, 60 and now a 65 on my bike. The 55 was by far the best cornering tire. BUT gave the harshest ride. And got the least mileage. The 60 was better, and the 65 is even better. Softer ride, and I still have no problem dragging hard parts if i want to.

Spud1800r, what size are you running now and did you have to do any fender mods? I'm evaluating tire sizes for my 2003 VTX1800R.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I'm running a 205 65 16 Hankook now.
When I put the first car tire on, I ground down the inner fender rails, then painted them black so nothing rusted.
And remember, every 10k miles you have to moly up the final drive splines.
