Well the time has come to replace the rear tire on my 2006 Vulcan Nomad 1600 and I was thinking of replacing it with the General Tire Atimax 205/60-R16 car tire. Anyone running this and who would mount it for me?

Dan..

If you are considering the standard touring version it should work but barely.I am running the 205-60-16 GYTT on my 05 nomad it has credit card clearance on the shaft tube.Tire rack shows the section width on both tires to be 8.2".Good luck and enjoy. thumbup thumbup

Well, I tried that very same tire on my 2007 Nomad. The side wall rubbed the shaft tube so there was no way I could use it. I ended up with the 195/60/16 Dunlop SP 5000.

I love the feel and ride of this tire. I really liked the tread pattern of the General, but I couldn't find it in a 195/60/16.

If you purchase the General, it may very well fit, but the clearence is really small (credit card thickness)

I wish you the best in your decision.

Peace!~

It's amazing how much the Nomad seems to vary as to how close the driveshaft housing is to the centerline. Some will allowing mounting this 205 width tire, some will not. Seems you have to try it to find out.

I have wondered if the spacing on the rear spline varies.I plan on taking a closer look at mine next time I grease it . Shrug Shrug
