Did some research on sizes going to mount up a Michelin Alpin PA3 205/55R16 CT on the rear , closest to stock size, and a stock fatboy tire 140/75R17 on the front for spring.
Will go with the 3 oz. dyna beads in the rear and 2 oz in the front. Will report back once I get some miles on this combo on the 2010 Ultra Classic

I got the idea for that tire from you, I looked at the tread and it looks perfect for a bike .

Waitaminnit, you SURE a 205 will squeeze in there? If so, I'm jealous. I just thot the Ultra had a 150 in back like the softails.

No thee Ultra has a 180/65/16 on it, so the 205 is approximately 1 inch wider, by looking at the belt distance it looks like it will work. I'm going to find out anyway

If you are seeing an inch between belt and tire it will DEFINITELY work - you only need half that, since the other half inch is on the other side of the tire...
well, you probably knew that.

Hurry up please Very Happy so I can see if it will fit. That is what I wanted anyway but did not want to buy one and then have it not fit my 2011 RK.

Can't wait to see if it fits. thumbup

However a 205/60 16 will help fix the speedo error, I have 5mph error on the slow side and would be only be a 3.8 mph error with the 60. and is only .98 wider than stock and 1.48 larger circumference Tire rpm would go from 799.92 to 785.21 with the 205/60 16

That gives a lot more options also. The dia. is 1.48"larger. hope it would fit and may try it.

Just from what I can see by eyeballing it, it should fit. I like the idea that the speedo is as close as you can get it with this size. I won't be putting it on til spring as I have to ride the bike 90 miles to a shop to get it put on but will for sure post once its on.

If you take the wheel off, most car tire shops will mount the tire for you. I have even had Walmart mount a tire for me($10).

2010 Ultra classic Empty 205/55R16 won't work

Post  justbike Wed Nov 30, 2011 8:48 pm

We did some measurements today and the 205/55R16 which I bought will not work on the 2010 Ultra because the belt will rub the tire. There is approximately 1/2 inch of clearance between the belt and the stock tire. I see people using a 195/55R16. By the tire specs that should leave approx. 1/4 inch of clearance between the belt and the tire. I really like the tread on the Michelin Alpin PA3 ZP so I am going to take back the 205 and exchange it for the 195 . The tire size calculator says it will make the speedo read 2mph fast. There is just a whole lot better selection in the 55 series than the 60 series.

Ordered a Bridgestone Blizzak LM60 Run Flat 195/55r16 going to mount that up. Expensive tire here in Canada, just shy of $300.00 but has a good looking tread.

good day

I put a 195/60 16 Hankook H426 on my 2011 Road king and 3 oz Dyna beads. No balance other than the beads. I can not say enough about that combo at 31 lbs. SSMMMOOOOTH Handles as good as the factory, rides a lot smoother, works better on gravel and corners at least as well as stock tire.

Can't tell I like it huh?

2010 Ultra classic Empty Bridgestone Blizak LM60

Post  justbike Sun Jan 01, 2012 3:01 pm

Picked up a Bridgestone Blizzak LM60 RFT 195/55R16, tread design looks awesome for a bike. Not cheap though $275.00, however that is not more than a new stock tire would be. Now to mount it up and wait for spring to give it a try.

Mounted the bridgestone blizzak LM60 RF 195/55-16 today. I can now see that a 205/55-16 will fit. There is sufficient space between the tire and the belt. The rim sucks the tire in quite a bit when its mounted compared to what the width is when its not on a rim. Looks good, now just have to wait til its warmer here to try it out.
