those are all very subjective questions.
The Hydroedge and Triple Tread are 2 very popular choices for all those reasons...

I thought i read that the hydroedge sometimes requires filing down tabs or some modification to avoid rubbing. Not true?

You're right Maurice, there are 2 members who had issues with the Michelin, you can check
it out in a recent post. Pretty unique issue though, since you should have enough clearance,
unless they're way wider then others.
The grabber is also a good choice or the Dunlop SP-7000 or SP-9000.

Pretty sure it is the 205/65-16 on the C model. I have an 1800S and it is the 205/65-15 on the S model.

Re: vtx 1800c 03 no rubbing
If you go with a Goodyear TripleTred you have to go with a 205/60/16.
Quite a few guys over on the VTX Cafe are running that size tire on their 1800s.

Re: vtx 1800c 03 no rubbing
Thanks Doc and Beermand! Wouldn't that size lower the bike a bit and raise rpms? I don't want to do that so if so would need a different tire I guess. Any suggestions?

Re: vtx 1800c 03 no rubbing
Results 205/65-16 205/60-16
Totals are in inches Tire 1 Tire 2 Difference
Sidewall Height: 5.25 4.84 -0.41
Section Width: 8.07 8.07 0
Overall Diameter: 26.49 25.69 -0.8
Circumference: 83.23 80.69 -2.54
Revs per mile: 761.29 785.21 23.92
It does lower a little and does increase the revolutions per mile.

Re: vtx 1800c 03 no rubbing
The 205/60/16 is about 1/4 inch shorter in diameter than your stock 180/70/16
than means it will lower your bike about an 1/8 inch from stock.
I don't think I would notice any difference.

Re: vtx 1800c 03 no rubbing
Ok Doc. Thanks for that.I probably will want to not go lower than 65 for height ratio even though as mentioned I probably wouldn't notice it. From Beermands' suggestion the General altimax or perelli P4. Have you heard that one or the other is better or just personal preferance? BTW which tire are you running?
