gotta weird noise

okay so i have a 99 vlx 600 and it sat for a couple months and went out one day and started it . started just fine went out about a week later and no battery power. tightened up terminals. then realized i left the key on. so i hooked it up to the charger and hit the key to see if it had power and it did but it was making a clicking sound like i was hitting the stater button when my hand was on the seat ( and i had it hocked up to the positive terminal) so any ideas on what this click could be??

I missed something. When did you get the VLX?
But if the battery was dead after sitting a week, it's time to replace it before it leaves you stranded. Don't you know your Dad is always right?

Jerry, the VLX is the bike he had been learning street riding on for the past couple years. Used it to build the skills before he gets turned loose on the big bike. I am looking forward to next falls color ride when he can ride his own scoot for the ride. His momma does not share my feelings here, said she will stay home next year and worry about us from there.

Do you have good news on the job front?

Kathy and I have planned on retireing to that area for a few years now. Just gonna move there and take it as it comes.
