Tire size for VTX1300C
2006 VTX 1300 C
Stock tire size is 170/80-15. I run a bit larger Metzler tire...200/70 B15. I'm ready for the dark side!
My question is, can I run a larger car tire like I can run a larger motorcycle tire? The 200/70 has worked out great!
This next question has probably already been answered, but what is the best car tire to get and where do you get them? I ride very aggressively, especially in corners, and I travel with camping gear (and tons of it) a lot too.
Any help / recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Tire size for VTX1300C
Steve,
Congrats for considering the darkside and welcome to our site!
Most go here go with the 205/65 or 70 series! Of course you will have to choose a brand now! LOL Most like the Goodyear TT and others the Bridgestone and there are others that are just as good. Heck, I am running a none directional tread pattern the the tire only cost $54 with tax from Wally world for over two years now. But most want the directional tire for the looks. The 205 is the widest you can go without doing any mods to your swing arm! Horseman8man has a 215 on his 1300 C but he had to use a "persuader" on the swing arm cover for clearance! LOL
ANY car tire will out handle any motorcycle tire there are on the market! Curves and two up or loaded with camping gear/trailers of what ever! Great for traveling because it handles any weather condition 10 times better than the MT. I drag my pegs regularly and as often as I can with the car tire and no issues! I feel a ton safer in doing it also with the CT.

Twin's the man with all the answers. And as usual he is right on. Personally I like the 70 series for ease on mounting.

Re: Tire size for VTX1300C
is the "TT" the same as the Goodyear Assurance Triple Tread?
Also, having a hard time finding someone to mount and balance it. Walmart, Cycle Gear, and Just Tires have all said they won't do it. Where do you go for this, or does everyone do it themselves?

I've had mine done at a one man shop, and at discount tires. Sometimes takes a lot of looking but it's worth it.

The place I buy my tire from mounts mine. Took the rim in there and said mount it. Was not a question, or request. Just said I wanted it done. They did it, then thought it was way cool later when I took my bike in there and showed them the tire on the scoot. Personally I have 40K on the darkside and love it.
