need help getting a tire to seat
Got a 900 Vulcan and bought a bridgestone Turanza 205/65/15.Clearance is good everything seems fine but can not get the tire to seat on the rim completely.
The last 3 or 4 inches of the bead will not seat completely.Lubed tire excessively added close to 1oo psi. Any ideas

You can try setting it in the sun for a few hours.

Re: need help getting a tire to seat
Put a desk lamp over it aimed at the unseated part with pressure in it overnight. I bet that works.

seating car tire
I just ran across your post, check your wheel bead diameter against that of a car wheel,i think you will find the m/c wheel is bigger in diameter,it doesnt take much to keep it from seating.Try a trick i saw on another forum, polish the inside of the rim to get rid of all machine marks. According to peter smith of SIDE EFFECTS in canada the diameter difference should be no more than between 1/16'' to 1/8''. Hope this helps.

Re: need help getting a tire to seat
Larry, exactly what I saw, and documented on this site. My 16" Concours wheel had no problems in seating a 16" car tire.
However, my 900C has a 15" wheel. After trying everything, including polishing the rim and grinding the inside edge of each safety bead at an angle, it still would not seat. I did not have a large enough caliper to actually measure the diameter of the inside part of the tire rim, especially the safety beads. But did measure many 15" car tires and 15" bike tires. All the brands of bike tires that I measured, measured 15 1/16" in diameter, while all the car tires measured 14 15/16", a 1/8" difference.
Knowing that after I did it, the tire could not be turned in, I used a large diameter grinding wheel, to cut 1/16" around both edges of tire's center hole. It then seated with no problems. I filled it with air and let it sit for a day. It lost no pressure. It's been months now, been on a 2500 road trip with some very hot weather, and have lost no air pressure at all.

HI THERE,glad you got the tire mounted,I have to correct a misquote on my part, the differce should only be 1/16'' between m/c wheel and car wheel. buy the way peter smith
I was talking about can turn down a m/c wheel for about $400 he can be contacted at (250)573-2364 for more imformation. Being that your wheel was not engine turned check your tire psi
