Hi all
Hey everybody what's up? I've been contemplating goin to the DS for some time now and made the jump a while ago , but wanted to make sure it was for me (before posting my comments) . Made the wife go out and snap a couple of photos cause i know a post is worth nothin without pics .
Bike stats
96 vulcan 1500 classic , 95" motor (thunder mfg knock off) , Mikuni hsr40 carb with custom port matched aluminum intake , fed through both air cleaners (my design) , exiting through 3 different exhausts made into 1 with custom baffles (my design again) , progressive front suspension lowered 1" all fender tabs trimmed and cr500 shock boots , rear is lowered 1.75" using stock shocks and custom springs and bump stops , custom forward controls , front wheel is the rear rim (hoop) laced to the front hub = 3.5" rim runnin a 150/90/16 bridgestone spitfire tire , rear wheel is the stock hub (with custom solid delrin cush drive = no lag or slap) laced to an american wire hoop (just had the right amount and angle of spokes to work) = 4.5" rim rollin a 195/60/16 dunlop sp5000 tire .
Only issues
Spun the rim inside the tire = added dirtbike beadlock
Have made 2 driveshafts twisted candy canes (didn't break , but made them so short they came out of the coupler and chewed the hell out of the coupler) = henderson driveline is trying to make me a chromoly one if it's even remotely cost effective .
Pics
All comments and suggestions good or bad are welcome .
On a side note , i am a 23yr expirenced professional motorcycle technician/bike builder/shop owner and absolutely love the way the car tire handles and LASTS , and haven't hesitated one bit to convert other riders to the DS even at the cost of losing a sale on a MC rear tire .

Re: Hi all
Tryin to find the one shaft left , had to cut the ends off of the other one for henderson . I've only seen one other vulcan 1500 do it and it was with a shot of nitrous .
Because of 2 stacked Barnett super springs on the scorpion clutch and the car tire grabbing so much traction and the addition of my 348 lb. body on a 724 lb. bike and the absence of cushions in the cush drive (custom delrin blocks) the shaft gives up . So thats why i was researching the chromoly option for a shaft , but then maybe i'll start blowing universals out , it's always a never ending quest too find the weakest link .
Once you think you've got all the answers , they change all the questions

ALL though the shafts are the same part number i'm almost ridiculously sure we do 2 totally different kinds of ridin , i've got a 97 vulcan 1500 with a 100" thunder mfg motor , stereo , sissybar with armrests , and 20" psycho chubby ape hangers with 37' of wire internal too do cruisin , but when it's fight or flight i roll the black & red one . i've even taken the green & white one with my wife on board home to get the black & red one to shut somebody up , or let my wife go back and really make 'em pucker . lol lol lol
Set up in solo mode
just for fun my kids...
Sometimes (friday nite drags/sunday morning street drags) my clutch is used as an on/off switch so it's go or blow . Contemplating the thunder mfg chain drive kit for a meanstreak (custom retro-fit of course) it alone will free up 23 hp of parasitic drag from the shaft . On a side note my 126 lb. wife has cut a single better time than me in a quarter mile on the black & red bike of almost a full second and i will probably never live that single fact down cause i can't get my fat ass near it hahahahaha . Me 1/4 mile 11.93 = 113.4 mph (personal best) , wife 10.98 = 123.2 6th time makin a pass on this bike she musta not been holdin back cause i was whippin the dog shit out of it and couldn't get any where near a sub 11 run . and hell yes that broad can RIDE !!!! i laugh my ass off when kids on gsxr 600 and some (not so well ridden) 750's & 1000's get smoked by a big cruiser with a chick (ponytail hangin out of the helmet and all) slammin that big pig through the gears & beatin 'em to the traps . Damn i love that woman !!!
