in need of double darkside pictures
Anyone got pics of a CT on back and a reversed rear mc tire on the front of a bike? Just trying to prove a point on another forum. I'll check back. Thanks!

Re: in need of double darkside pictures
Don't have any pics but I have been running a rear tire on the front for years. Mine is mounted in the normal rotation (arrows pointing in the proper direction. I have over 40,000 miles on darkside this way and never had a single problem. (C/T on back and rear M/T on front)

I am running a CT on the back and an Avon Venom rear tire on the front. It is mounted backwards to the directional arrows. I have about 10K miles on the CT and about 9K miles on the Avon.[

re in need of doubledarkside pictures
Your front tire scares me metalman ,looks like it would funnel water to the center of the tire

+1, my thoughts also. Guess this will always be a difficult item. Tire would not be my choice
for the front anyway.

Heres a pic of a rear Avon Roadrider on the front. It is mounted in correct rotation because it is made to work in the front or rear.

Re: in need of double darkside pictures
I agree that the treads don't look like they will push water away from the front tire. I have been thinking of removing the wheel and mounting backwards rather than removing and remounting the tire. What little riding in the rain I've done hasn't caused a problem. The bike handles so much better with that tire than with the OEM tire in the front.

We installed a double darkside on the front of Buddha's 1800 and we faced it forward with the directional arrow and NO issues either. With rain grooved tires I think they should go forward.

Front "darkside" tire recommendations
My front Metzler is reaching the end of its' life after 7000 miles. I'm interested in running a rear tire on the front as I have read that others have done. Any suggestions concerning brands, sizes, etc? My ride is a 2005 1300 R. Thanks for any input.
Re: in need of double darkside pictures
I am running a Kenda 150-70-15 on mine. Stock is a 140-70-15. My bike is an 03 1300S. I would pick a tire that you like the looks of and go for it.

What is the advantage of putting a rear tire on the front?

You guys are just wrong!!! LOL
Re: in need of double darkside pictures
I wouldn't put a tire on with the tread groove contacting the water first on the outside of the tire, rolling it into the center.
It doesn't take a genius to figure out that that will create rather than dissolve hydroplaning. It sounds to me like you guys were discussing it as an OPTION.

Re: in need of double darkside pictures
Hey Quadancer I thought the same thing on my front mt metzler it runs that way so i ask most of the shops and they did'nt know why, so i called Metzler and they said the front tire is more narrow so it pushes the water out of the way for the back tire. It just don't look right..

Re: in need of double darkside pictures
After what I saw yesterday with Metzler tires and customer service, it has become a cussword around here! I wouldn't doubt that they don't know anything about tires.
