Yes, I'm running a 175/75/16 Comtrac on my 2004 Nomad 1500. I have about 350 miles so far and I'm running 40psi for the break-in period. In my humble opinion, there is a big difference between a CT and MT.

Please, if you can, give me a dim. on the width of tire mounted. I only have 7" to work with and would hate to buy one and would not fit.
Thanks, Charlie

Re: Vredestein
How about a pic of this unheard of creature? Never heard anything about them before.
Poppy, there is a big difference between a car tire and a motorcycle tire. But honestly 90% of it is just in our heads. Give it some miles and put it through the paces. I think you will find that the car tire will do everything a MC tire does ... it just does it differently. When you get over the mental part of it and learn to trust it you will find it to be 100% better than a MC tire.
See you out there

The Comtrac is a great tire. I personally prefer my Continental Vanco 185/75/16 on my '03 1500 Nomad. But they are very similar. Quite a few of the Kawa guys are running them.
The 75 series sidewall and the heavier van/truck construction gives a better ride in my opinion. I put 12000 miles on a Federal 175/60/16 and loved it, but this Conti in the 75 series beats the CT hands down.

Hey Turtle2, I measured 6 5/16" wide. That's six and five sixteenths inches. I'll try and figure how to post links to my pictures.

Hey Smokey, so far I am loving the new tire. I have researched this for quite some time and changed over when my rear Metzler needed changed.

Re: Vredestein
YAAAAY!!! THANK YOU POPPY for the pics and review. This is the ONLY tire on the planet that will fit my Heritage Hoggy, and if I hadn't just put a Pirelli Night Dragon on it, I'd be the first to go darkside on the Herry.
My opinion is that there will be less crossover effect with the more narrow CT than a wider one, and I see this one even has some center tread belly to it as well! I guess I'll see ya in 5000 miles, when I need a change.
That sure is some DEEEEEP lookin' tread there! Oughtta be good for 30k at least!

Thanks Poppy,
For the dim's. on 175/75 16 -- Ordered it today, couldn't get a good dim on the 185/75, so I went your route.

Re: Vredestein
Poppy: I started the thread on the "First Heritage" running DS - using the Comtrac 175/70/16 -
in response to your handling statement, drop a little pressure and the thing acts more like a MT. I'm
running 35 as my second attempt and it made a big difference in feel. Now have to put the ol' lady on and
try to find my 2up pressure.
I read in the DS home safety blog that every pound makes a difference - I really felt the drop from 40. I'm
also going to invest in a good quality gauge.
Did you have some wiggling on the interstate grooves at first? Mine seems to be going away.

Have a Comtrak 175/75-16 on order for a Deuce - expecting it Tuesday and should have it on Tuesday or Wednesday, assuming my Dynobeads show up by then.

Re: Vredestein
Here's tables I used to calculate the right tire - wanted to have very similar circumference for speedo, and also maximum section width (to clear belt)Please, if you can, give me a dim. on the width of tire mounted. I only have 7" to work with and would hate to buy one and would not fit.
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireMath.dos
http://www.miata.net/cgi-bin/tirescgi
Here's my results:
Item MC_Tire // Car_Tire
Size 160/80-16 // 175/75/16
Sidewall ht 5.04 // 5.17
Section width 6.3 // 6.89
Diameter 26.08 // 26.33
Circumference 81.93 // 82.73
Revs / mile 773.35 // 765.84
If you've got 7" the Comtrac should just make it.
