Can a 205/70 -15 go on a VT1100C?

I have a '01 VT1100C Shadow Spirit & I'm currently riding with ME880 200/70 -15 on the rear right now.
I do mostly SuperSlab riding to work or Old Hwy Roads for joy riding.

Now to my Question:
 I have been thinking about going to a General Altimax HP but can not decide what size. I see the widest used so far is the 205/65 -15 but had thought about the 205/70 -15 just didn't know if that was tooo Wide for the VT1100C or not; is it just a little bit extra too wide to go on.
I know from putting on the 200/70 -15 ME 880 there was not much room left back there but thought might be enough for the 205/70 but just thought I would ask before I even thought about trying it.
 
I want to keep the W I D E Look I have with the 200/70 -15 but like the idea of Cost / long-lasting nature of the CT.
As a added Plus my Father-in-Law (a GlodWinger) thinks if I do this I will surly DIE.
I always LOVE proving him WRONG.
 
I got Dyna Beads for help with Balancing and it is warmer weather now so hoping the tire will go on the rim easy (or as easy as a MC tire anyways).
Are there any hints on install I may need vs a reg MC tire?
 
Any other Info ya'll would like to Throw my way would be greatly welcomed.

Since I ride a small 800cc Suzuki Intruder I don't have any experience with these big c/t's so I did the tire comparison on the tire size calculator and came up with these numbers:

M/T 200/70 15 ------------------------------ C/T 205/70 15 -------------------- Difference:
Sidewall Height: 5.51 ----------------------- Sidewall Height: 5.65 -------------- 0.14
Section Width: 7.87 ------------------------- Section Width: 8.07 ---------------- 0.2
Overall Diameter: 26.02 -------------------- Overall Diameter: 26.3 ------------ 0.28
Circumference: 81.76 ----------------------- Circumference: 82.62 -------------- 0.86
Revs per mile: 774.99 ----------------------- Revs per mile: 766.87 ------------ minus 8.12
Speed: 65 mph --------------------------------Speed: 65.69 mph ------------------ .69

Well according to the cal. it looks like there is only .2 inch difference in the width of the 200/70 15 and the 205/70 15. So if you have more than that the 205/70 15 should work. Please remember that tire sizes can be bigger or smaller depending on the manuf. so you should check out each tire in person or wait for a reply from someone that has put this c/t on their bike and has personal experience with it. I'm sure if I made any mistakes or given any false info someone will be alone to correct me, Good luck.

The 70 series is taller than the 65. The 70 has a narrower bead width and will seat easier than the 65. 205 width is 205 width.

Clean your rim really well and lube the snot out of the rim and bead and you should be able to mount it relatively easy. Lots of different lubes have been used for mounting these car tires, I have heard of soap, vegetable oil, the undiluted stuff tire installers use, and fork oil. Others will probably chime in with other "lubes".

Best I can tell General does not make the Altimax in 205 70 15 but you can get it in Goodyear Triple tread and also Michelin Hydro Edge. My choice would be the TT@ $100.0. The Hydo Edge is $116.00 and is a very heavy tire.
I have the Altimax HP 205 65 15 with 3500 miles and no complaints on my VT1100C I think the 205 70 will work and will probably try it if and when I need another tire. I like the fact that the 70 has a narrower width across the bead. My 205 65
seated @ 90PSI using Pledge and a sunny afternoon as lub.

Per the Honda dealer mine seated with 150 psi, lots of snot and no sun in the winter. said he would never do it again.

Ended up going with the 205/65-15 got it yesterday loves the look of the tire now just need some of that good old
( T I M E ) to get it put on and with my DynBeads everything should run Great!
