Would anybody go back?
Would anybody go back to the Metz?
I personally can't imagine it,
but if you would, WHY?
I've found my Raptor corners just as well.
Handles better in the rain.
Lower cost.
Better mileage.
Looks cooler.
So if you'd want to change back,
I'd love to know the reasons WHY.
Ride safe y'all,
skip

Re: Would anybody go back?
My answer is no.
The ride is smoother and I feel that it is more sure footed than the other tire. The contact patch is larger and I am just more comfortable with the Yoyo than any other MT that I have been on.
The other things you posted are just lagnap.
Peace

Re: Would anybody go back?
I'm still just under 1000 miles on the Raptor, but I'm thinking even if the cost were the same, I'd stay Darkside.
So many advantages. The cost savings is icing on the cake.
Love it.

Re: Would anybody go back?
Hi there Skip,
I have to "Go Back" once a year when my R3 needs an MoT check, I spend a 1/2 hour taking off my 245 wheel and putting on the Metz wheel - do the MoT then come home and change it back again
Owl's guy [and a few others here in the UK] accepts his tyre and passes it every time, but not me!
Very

Re: Would anybody go back?
There's been a couple that have gone back. not on this forum, but on the wing forum and such. Most give the reason as "feel" or "handing". Personally, I like the feel of the ct. But to each his own.

Re: Would anybody go back?
I couldn't imagine it either, but after SEVERAL pages and constant B.S. from a couple of guys on the .com site,
who haven't tried it, but are total experts, I was just wondering.

Re: Would anybody go back?
Yea me neither,
I'll never sink another dollar into them over priced, soft round tires.
If I want round,
I'll just lay into mine a little more in the curves.
Besides, it's pretty round now....

Re: Would anybody go back?
Only if Metz makes a dual compound tire - hard in the center, sticky on the sides.
The Riken Raptor is truly quite close in handling - even at 245 it is not a drastic deviation from Metz/Avon IMHO.
3rd Darkside (see other post) 24,500 on Goodyear, 24,500 on Toyo - no reason to switch back at this point...

curious
Just pute a ct on my thunderbird. After reading all your posts I was ready for the change. I purchased a used tire just to make sure it would fit it does and yea I had to test it out I needed to prove to myself it would work so I rode harder than normal went beyond peg scraping no issues. Being a very low profile my options are limited so any recomendationd on tires would be great. The only size that squeezes into the limited space is a 205 50 17. Thank you for your time and the conversion. Btw ct makes a hella smoke show.

Re: Would anybody go back?
Riding an 07 standard. I went to the Riken Raptor about 4 years ago and found the savings substantial when combining the cost of three Cobras ($400 each mounted) to one Raptor ($120) for three years riding. Tight corners did give a little instability. I went to the Goodyear Indy 500 Wide Oval (W rating) at $96 and found the handling much better. Running a 225/50. Gas mileage dropped from 40 with the M/T to 37 with the Goodyear but at $96 for three years wear versus the $330 plus mounting annually the little bit of gas cost was nothing compared to over $1000 in tire cost.
In comparison to the M/T I got the bike with Metzlers and replaced them with Avon Cobras and found the Metz was to apt to slip and gave no signal such as squealing. Just the smell of rubber burning. The Avons were far superior. When I switched to the Goodyear from the Raptor I found a much better handling comparable to the Avon. Trying to make a turn with less than a 24 Ft radius will prove to be difficult. Anything else it is a pleasure to ride. Handling on rough surfaces especially grooved asphalt was exceptionally improved. Won't go back.
