DarkSide Ride-In 2010 ....Dates April 23-24-25

Ride into Robbinsville , North Carolina on friday evening April 23 for the pre-ride party ....We'll do The Dragon , The Hellbender and Cherohala Skyline with a stop at Bald River Falls on saturday April 24 return to Robbinsville for a mexican supper and the after-ride party...Sunday morning April 25 get up and head toward home.The motel I stay at has fire pits and plenty of wood for the night party's.It's American owned by the same family for many years and very clean. Just trying to put some numbers to this. I can trailer the VLX to my sisters in the Stone Mountain area, stay overnight and then ride the bike up the next day, little over a three hour ride. Looks like I am looking at about $150 in fuel cost for my F-150 to and from Georgia, overnight stay at Sis's free and then, how much are the motel room charges going to be?

I would like to do this, but I really need to have good numbers so that I can get the wife to sign off on it and so that I can start the saving process. Thanks.

I have a Fall Color Ride every Oct out of this same motel in Robbinsville and every year we sell out the place. The lady that owns it ( Miss Reba ) is a cool lady . I'll talk to her about this ride when we have our ride the 16-17-18 of Oct she'll work with me and the more we have confirmed to go the better the price. I'm guessing now somewhere between $45.00 and $55.00. I'll post more on this ride as we enter 2010.

I may try to make it, if you don't mind a motorcycle tire in the group. I will set the weekend aside, but the weather will decide for me. That time of year it'll most likely still be snowing like crazy and a few dgrees below cold, but if the roads are clear I'll make a break for it.

I do have an alternate motive for coming as well. It would give me a chance to scout out and possibly drop some applications at the local law enforcement departments in and around cleveland, TN and maybe move down that way. Then I could go play on my old roads all the time instead of wearing out the center of my tires with barely a scuff on the outer edges.

It's on my calendar. 908 miles from Dallas. Looks like i40 or i20 is the same mileage, so I won't have the same view going home. As the date draws near, post hotel info, times and such. Sounds like fun.

When times get closer we need to start planning the ride to the event, as I'm planning on heading south for warmer weather and coming across on I-40. Maybe we can meet up and ride in together. It's only going to be about 1800 miles for me to get there the way I plan, then if weather allows it'll be a 1500 mile sprint home.

722 miles one way, if the old lady don't stop me work probably will. How about riding the pig trail or Jasper disaster? Lol

I'll be coming from south GA. through SC. up to the NC./SC. state line so lets see if anyone else is coming from FL. or GA too and we can meet and go from there maybe pickup simpleman77 from his sisters house.
We could have lunch near the NC/SC line if you know of a place to eat there, then we can do the last leg (3hr) to the hotel .
