195/55X15?
[b]Hi All:
Its great to know there are so many knowledgables all on one site! WOW...
Anyway, would a 195/55/15 work on a VT750DC? The original is 165/80/15.
Thanks!

Re: 195/55X15?
I'll wait for a 750 guy to answer this because I don't recall this being done. Height wise you are going much shorter than current. 165*80=132 vs 195*55=107. So it will be noticeably shorter and your engine will rev higher at highway speed. Width wise you are putting on a lower profile tire which causes some problems getting the tire to bead. I believe your bike has spokes, so you will have to seal the rim or use a tube. Using tubes does not help getting the bead to seat.
Whether the tire will fit width wise you will have to measure. You can do some measurements. You can physically measure the gap between your current tire and the edges, or, there is a post showing how to put "clay" around your current tire. You put clay around your tire, roll it back and forth, have someone sit two up and bounce around awhile. This will give you an idea if the tire will fit.
What brand and model tire is this?

I owned the 750 before and it way undergeared and you DO NOT WANT TO GO TO THE SHORTER TIRE! Like said before..it will scream it's guts out going down the highway.
165/80/15 is your tire!

Re: 195/55X15?
I cannot agree with Twin more. At interstate speeds my 750 sounds wound out with the stock tire, so a shorter tire is only going to make matters worse. I just went to a 195/65 15 c/t on my '04 VT750C and it has plenty of clearance. The 195/65 is .1 inches shorter than the 160/80 that came on the bike.
For my next c/t I'm definitely going taller, but I'm not sure what size just yet.
