AIRBOX MOD vs AIR INTAKES Empty AIRBOX MOD vs AIR INTAKES

Hi all

I have a question for you gearheads. I have researched air intake systems like hyperchargers, barons, thunder tornado, etc. from almost $300 -$900.

On my VTX 1800, I just completed the desmog, secondary air, etc. While I was at it, I cut away all but the base plate on my factory airbox and even ventilated the air cover, Now all you see now is the sides of the K&N air filter and the vented air cover. Man...What a difference in power, I really gotta hang on now!!! I guess I added maybe 1-2 horsepower. I can't get over the torque and how strong it pulls! It is completely stock except for the Cobra slashdowns.

Now my question: I can't see how I can get anymore air, so if I went with a high dollar intake, would it give me a lot more power to justify spending taht kind of money? Any insight will be much appreciated!

Thanks

I can't speak to what I may or may not have gained with my Kuryakyn Corsair. I gained a lot of torque with my Roadburner 2:1 exhaust, or so it felt. So putting on the Corsair? Well I can certainly hear the motor breathing. I chose the Corsair because it shows the most of that big pretty V Twin motor. The K&N filter is a plus as well that comes with the Corsair.
My 2 cents.

gains over what you have done will be minimal at best, probly un-noticable to the "seat of the pants dyno", get one because you like the look more than anything...

If you are looking for BIG gains in horse power you need to go to a turbo charger, BUT you will have to fork out BIG bucks . Tho it will double your HP.
In my opinion the 1800 with the mods you have already, has got a lot of power already.
have fun on what ever you you decide .

How much more power and torque do you NEED on an 1800? They're kind of crazy fast already...

I met someone at Leesburg FL. bike fest that had a Rocket 3 turbocharged , he told me he got 225 horsepower from his bike when he had it dyno tested.
or you get a Boss Hoss big block 454

That is the thing with the 1800 VTX. Max power minimal mods. Especially at the time of manufacture. Even today it is one of the best true Muscle Crusers on hte street. Their are others but there is only one VTX. Biggun or littleun. Nice rides. Best thing about bikes, I like em all. From those little Vespas to the Bosshoss. They all are cool in there own application.

That is what makes being a rider a rider. Big, small. I like em all.

Even you Twin
