Silly Question
I am new to this forum and I did a lot of reading on the subject, and I am in the process of getting a car tire mounted to my VN2000,but one thing I might have missed. Do you use the valve stem from the MC tire or the new car tire???

Re: Silly Question
klink, No such thing as a stupid question (well, that is unless Muntz asks one ) Use the MC valve stem. This is a good time to get you a right angle stem to put on too. They make checking the air psi so much easier.

Re: Silly Question
I replaced my stems. got them from the auto store. Stay clear of the metal ones, or make sure you have clearance for a tire guage before you go to far. They sell left turn valve stems an the rubber ones work fine.
You don't need to replace them every time, but it's a good idea to replace them periodically.

Re: Silly Question
When i replace the tire i also replace the valve core but keep the valve stem in place.
It's not that the core has a rep of failure , but for my peace of mind that i have a new one in there.
It's not a silly question , a silly question is like , "How did Acorn get away with cheating .?"

silly question
Thanks for the input guys. I left the mc valve stem on for easier psi checking. OK, I had the Goodyear assurance tt tire mounted today(225/60/16) and I gotta say it's a little rougher turning. I have a VN2000 and it wants to stay straight untill you really counter steer and muscle it into a turn. I had the shop put 40 psi into the tire like I read on the forum. But it seems to be barely rubbing on the splash guard on the front of the rear tire well between the frame and wheel. Also it is really close to the belt guard, I might just put a washer between the frame and guard to bring it out a bit. Should I just take the splash guard off or wait untill it rubs away enough to not rub anymore? Thanks guys.

Re: Silly Question
Klink, I would not put a washer in there. Many of us are running with tolerances that are credit card thin or thinner with no rubs at all. With the splash gaurd, is it something that could be tweaked "bent" to give clearance?
They do take a little more counter steer but after a couple hundred miles you will be throwing it around like no bodies business.

Re: Silly Question
during the Obama election the Acorn group was paid to get people registered to vote and make sure that went out to vote on the day.
in every state dead people were registered.
some people were registered as many as 12 times.
all the teams of the NFL were registered in Texas even when they were not a resident of that state.
one town with a population of 25,000 people had 250,000 registered to vote.
16,000,000 (that's million) bogus registered voters found and who knows how many that were not found.
if you don't believe me do a search google and find out for yourself.
Sorry I didn't mean to hijack you thread.
