Well it's official now. I am riding on the Darkside.
Last Friday Wren put my new rear tire on. Thanks Wren.
I went with the Michilin Hydroedge 205/65-16
It was a bear to put on but we got her on and balanced with Dynabeads.
I did take off my fender support bracket, cut off the tabs and ground down the ends a little.
It probably wasn't needed but I thought I'd play it safe since we ride 2-up a lot.
I also cut of the Helmet lock since the saddlebags cover it and make it useless.
After I got home I put my bike back together and snapped a couple of pics.

Saturday I rode her to work to test it out and I was real comfortable with the feel.
It handled nice and didn't give as much resistance as I thought she would.
I leaned a little more into the turns but it doesn't feel awkward or unnatural.
I tried to find all the bad spots in the road (grooves,tarsnakes...etc.) to see how she handles and it felt better than a motorcycle tire.
No sliding or squirreling around.
After about 45 miles of test riding I felt safe enough to take the wife for a ride. We went out for lunch then rode out to Yellowsprings ,Ohio for Icecream.
Riding 2-up was great and no problems riding on any road surface.I even drove down a gravel road at a metro park and didn't feel any sliding .
Slowing down for stops and red lights was much better to keep balanced and the wife getting on and off the bike seemed a little better also.
My wife thought the bike rode a little smoother over the bumps but was still a little nervous.
After the ride to Yellowsprings I think She is more comfortable with the tire.
I am really happy with my choice if tire and will be looking forward to many...many miles of riding.

Now where's my cookies....? WinkLaughing

Hounddogohio,
Welcome to the "enlightened darkside"!!!!!! Man, that tire looks awesome on that ride!!! Your wife should be grateful to you that you put that bike on the darkside. The c/t won't delam, you can patch or plug it without a prolem, and it will ride smoother, as ya'll have already seen. If a c/t can stand up to the rigors of what we do to them on cages, that scooter is going to be just fine. Experiment with the tire pressures until you find the "sweet spot". Happy trails and wipe that smirk off your face, because thats what your gonna be doing a lot!!! Smiling because of all the $$$$$you'll be saving because you'll get a lot more (s)miles Very Happy out of that tire. Semper-fi Mike (my son lives in Dayton!!)
