Avon Cobra tire failures

Hello DS'ers!

Lotsa folks badmouth the Darkside, lotsa naysayers, "not safe", "fiery death", I'm sure you've heard 'em all.

Well, IMHO, Avon Cobra's are not fault free:

I've been considering the Darkside before all this happened,,, I've read up a lot on it here. (THANKS!!!)

No better time than the present!! I'm taking my 'chances' with a Michelin HE 205/65/16 now!

Got about 75 miles on it so far,,, still breaking it in and fiddling with the pressure. It DOES get better as you go!

Congrats and Welcome to the Darkside. That is the same tire I put on about a month ago. 1100 + Miles now and I have not had a single issue with it on a 2003 VTX 1800 R. Good Luck, Happy Riding, and Ride it like it's yours.

Welcome to the darkside, (we have empty boxes!) we used to have cookies.

As you can see by my member date, I've been lurking, reading up on the DS, for about a year before my first post!

Kinda 'miffed' at the tire failure I had,,, time to try the DS!!!

Put it on myself at home, Sunday afternoon kinda thing,,, 3 oz dynabeads,,,

I was really suprised how much difference there was in handling with 0 miles on the tire compared to 75,,, It was pretty stiff right out of the box!! It felt even better when I dropped the air and took the wife for a spin later on!

I want to give it a full 300 to 500 miles before I even begin to formulate thoughts on it,,, It will take a bit of 'test and tune', but, thanks to this board, I feel that I am at least off to an informed start!!!
