New DS'er
WOOHOO, got my Douglas 195 on yesterday. Feels a little odd when you do a very quick weave, but I only have 16 miles on it. SO far......

Re: New DS'er
Looks good! People really like those douglas'. I"m going for a 205 in a month or so when I run out of tread on the Kuhmo. Awesome look.
What do you think about the ride? (Our thread got locked on HS.N, so guess we can't talk about it there)

Re: New DS'er
You KNOW you have a new tire under your butt for sure. You can feel "everything".
The wide tire is probably more what you feel "weird" than anything else, but you will get used to it. First time you ride the highway in with a strong crosswind, you will be happy you switched. I never felt comfortable with my old mc tire in that situation. felt like the back end wanted to move around. The wide CT will stick to the asphalt like gum on your grandma's sofa.
Welcome to the dark side!

You admitting to some of your youthful follies Steve-O? LOL. I think grandma would've beat me with a tree branch if I woulda got gum on her sofa. LOL.
When I swap up to the 205, I'll be sure to write the notices I see. I've been on the Kuhmo for 1 1/2 years now. I am starting to think that I don't remember any details on what the previous tire was like. LOL.

How much air should I be running? Seems like my teeth are gonna vibrate out of my head.

What does the tire recommend? Did you balance the tire??...or did you put dyna beads in the tire???? It should NOT shake at all. Did the tire actually seat the bead all the way around the rim on both sides?????

Re: New DS'er
+1 Air pressure won't affect vibration. That's a tire seating or balance issue.
for air pressure, start with the tire recommendation. then add or release a few psi at a time. Play with it till you get it to where you like it. I kept mine at the tire recommended pressure.

Re: New DS'er
Seems many from the HSN are coming here! Welcome. The force is strong here. I also have a douglas on my OLD Shadow. My bike is a 1984 VT700C. I have only 10 miles on my C/T, but plan on it getting many, many more, as I want to really test this thing out! I have a Victory Vision that will be next if all goes well with my old rat. I average around 17,000 miles per year, so tires wear out pretty rapidly. ------Metalguy

Re: New DS'er
Sorry, more info required, lol. Yes it's seated on both sides. 3 ounces of dyna beads in the tube. Lowered ths air and hit A LOT better roads and all is well. No more bad vibes. So 32 psi is cool? Read on here somewhere people running 39-40 psi. Also rode pretty ticked off the other day (mad enough to forget about the CT) and was pretty aggressive with the throttle and no difference at all from my old mt. Think the weirdness was all in my head.

You should get a box in the mail soon.....
PSI is rider dependent. some folks have it lower than 32..... I need to play with mine some more, psi that is. Maybe when I get my compressor fixed up..... I've been pretty happy with my ride. I found that at lower pressure, 35, I had a weird feeling with turning right from a dead stop. Airing it up to 40 fixed this. Never felt like I vibrated, but may need to lower it to 32 and see what it feels like. Sure wouldn't hurt.

Went on a Pgr ride yesterday, put about 300 more miles on it. The more I ride it the more I like it.

Welcome
I'm back to the suggested pressure on the tire. the only time I pump it up is when I am two up. I find that the more I ride it the better I like it. After first installing the tire I thought I was feeling things that just were not there. I like it more and more every time I get on. Play with the pressures and find what is best for you.
Ride safe and Blessings to ya.

I was the first HSN guy on this site. Dark-Shadow soon followed, and Steve-O was right after that. I think we were all here within 6 months of each other.
There were 2 other guys on the HSN site that had gone to the Darkside when I was trying to learn about it. I can't remember their names, but they helped me feel safe about it.
