Lost a hero of mine today
Those that have been around here for a while remember me talking about Sweety, the guy we did cpr on. Today he lost his battle with colon cancer, it is a sad day in my life. I am thankful that we had an extra 15 months with him in my life. But can I tell ya it sucks around here today.
Chris is one of the toughest men I have ever known. He faced his battle with cancer just like he lived his life. Wide open and always positive, never heard him grumble bitch or moan. Always factual when talking about it. The most negative thing I ever heard him say was "this sucks" but not in a feel pity for me way, just as a matter of fact. The way any of us would comment on the sunny day. My life is better for having known him and he will be missed.
To make this bike related Chris was an avid motorcyclist. He preferred the sport bikes over the cruisers and tourers but he would could and did ride em all. His last bike was a victory 8 ball. He used to race the sport bikes and was always competitive. Almost to a fault, he has been air lifted off the track twice, a few ambulance rides, but the podium appearances made it all worth it for him.

Re: Lost a hero of mine today
Most people pray for just one more day and you gave him 15 months , you should be proud , sad for the loss but you gave him the time he needed to say goodbye. we will miss our fellow rider.

Prayer going out to all who feel a loss with his passing. I remember you talking about him more than once and I know you would gladly give the award you won back just for one more day with him. Follow his lead on his outlook on life and you will never be wrong my brother.

Sorry for your loss man. I lost a grandfather to lung cancer, and my 15 yo sister is a thyroid cancer survivor.
Re: Lost a hero of mine today
Smokey, sorry for the loss of this special friend of you. Wish you and his relatieves & friends all the best.
Monday I attend a funeral of a close lady friend of ours. She also lost the battle. She just made 50 two weeks ago.
Try remember them how they were, how they fought and what we have learned from them.

Re: Lost a hero of mine today
Thanks all, I guess one of the things that makes this tough is that the guy was only 35. But as we all know cancer is indiscriminate of age sex or any other "catagory" you want to go with.
Yall have a blessed weekend. Go play and enjoy life.
See you out there

I'm glad ya got some extra time to spend with him. Enjoy the memories.
