Rocket III Touring - Gone Dark
Hi all, my first post here.
I have an 08 Triumph Rocket III Touring. At 4200 miles the stock Bridgestone delaminated and would not hold air.
I was planning on going dark at some point later on, but the time came early.
I had a General Altimax HP, 205/60/16 installed. Several friends have this tire on their Valks.
After 500 miles or so I have come to like the darkside. I am currently running at 38psi.
I am still getting accustomed to the handing changes, particularly the tendency to shift with irregularities in the road surface. I'm sure it will get better the more I ride. I've ridden in the rain also, and the traction was much better than I expected. Low speed handling is fine. At speed in sweepers and sharp curves I can feel some shifting around, but I think it's because I'm still getting used to the additional steering inputs required.
All in all, a great experience.

Re: Rocket III Touring - Gone Dark
This is my first darkside by the way. I've been interested in trying it out for over a year now. I've done lots of research online, and spoken with many riders who've crossed over.
I'm happy so far.

You picked the perfect tire for that bike. If I thought they'd hold up like a Honda, I'd buy that same bike.
