Well, I spent yesterday taking off the Metzler and putting on the Toyo Proxes. Wasn't too bad of a job. Did everything myself and got my son to help me the one side of the tire on the rim. Everything went fine and easy. Now if this rain will ever quit so I can give it a spin.

Well I rode about 45 miles today. Back Roads, Curvey Rodes and Interstate. My first impressions are WOW. The ride was smooth, the handling was great and I think I like it. It had a different feel going into the curves, but after a little while, it felt ok. I checked the milage on the Metzler that I took off and got 6000 miles on it. I could have probably gotten another 1000 miles at the most out of it. I am looking foward to many miles on my TOYO. Very Happy Razz bounce

Finally Gone Darkside Empty Tire swap

Post  erik..b Sun Mar 15, 2009 5:00 pm

What did you use to swap the tire? Do you have a changer, or did you just uses spoons? Am in the middle of this project myself, and would like to do it all myself, but am not too sure on the dismount and remount of the tire. Thanks - Erik

I just used spoons and JOY Dish Soap. I cut the MT off with a knife and wire cutters and then put the CT back on. Getting the MT off took longer than putting the MT on. I did have help putting it back on tho. I had my son help when I ws putting the last side back on.

Thanks - I may need to swing by harbor freight and pick up a set of spoons and try to do it my self. They talk about mounting a certain point by the valve stem to help balance?? Is that true or a line of BS? thanks - erik

I just put it on, didn't align anything, put in 4oz. of Dynabeads and let them do their work. I used 4oz because the tire is wider than the 205 they had listed using 3oz.

That's what ever one says....except a few people on the OA....... Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing I ride mine every day....it's Louisiana! We don't get any bad weather except Hurricanes!!! affraid Winters are mild and no ice! I have ridden my darkside for almost 4 years and don't ever intend to go back to a MC tire!

If you think you like it now!!! Just wait until you get caught in your first rain! It will stick like glue! You just think it's something now!
