I got screwed today
After comming home from work on my scoot found a 1 1/2" - 2" long screw in my tire, general graber uhp, and being id10t like I am I un-screw the tire and after moving my lawn and fixing it with edger took a second look at the tire and it was getting flat.
tomorrow I will buy me a motorcycle jack and something to fix that tire. Got it right in the middle of tire, in between thread grooves.
I thought to go to walmart and buy some tire sealant or to harbor freight tools and get me some green slime http://www.harborfreightusa.com/usa/itemdisplay/displayItem.do?itemid=41331&CategoryName=AUTOMOTIVE ACCESSORIES&SubCategoryName=Misc. Auto Tools
do you guys have any experience with this product??
What should I buy me to fix that tire??
Or to buy some thing from walmart for tire fixing?? I think I saw last time I was there some of those things you can clean hole in the tire and stick some piece of ruber to seal it and then cut off the excess plug.
What you guys would do in this situation??
What would you use for sealing screwed tire??
Any recomendation is more than welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Re: I got screwed today
I use the plug gun. I think you can still get them from Harbor freight. The plug gun inserts a mushroom shaped plug into the tire. I have used one for many years and have had pretty good success with it. They work well with nail and screw punchers, but they are no good for cuts.

Re: I got screwed today
go to wal-mart , get the plug kit, it looks like a fat string with rubber coating , a round file and screwdriver with a hole and slot in it , that is the plug-tool. this kit should have a small tube of rubber glue if not get a tube and when you have the kit in hand , first run the file in and out of the hole the screw come out of, then place a fat string in the slot of the plug-tool so that the plug-tool is in the middle of the string , then open the tube of glue and apply a good amount to it and push it into the hole so just a little bit of the string ends are still outside then pull out the plug-tool out and the loop of the string should stay in the hole. cut the string even with the rest of the tire and air back up and you are ready to ride.
good luck,

I use the plug gun too, actually had to use it the other day for a glass cut across the leading edge of my front tire. IThe tire had 17,000 on it and was getting replaced anyway but I put 240 fearless miles on it before I got my new one. The plug gun worked great.
See you out there

Re: I got screwed today
hey guys, one more question, is it worth to put slime in it?? Does it work or not??
I did repair with walmart plug and I think it's holding it.
I was curious if I put a 16oz of slime in it, will it be better or not to prevent future losing of air due to screw or nail or such??
What do you guys think about it???

Re: I got screwed today
Dont use the goo. You will regret it in the long run and your tire guy will cuss you under his breath. That is with any tire. Plug it, patch it or replace it.
