General Altimax HP 215/65R16 Install & Ride, "Wildside"
4 clearance mods needed. none was done mearly as a precaution, they were all required, but nothing diminished structural or mechanical integrity. The swingarm cross brace seam needed a 1/4" x 1/2" protrusion of extra metal beyond spotwelds in right corner ground off, the left swingarm (driveshaft tube) had a slight rub, so a 1" round, foot long piece of steel stock laid across top of right side swingarm, under brake line, with a friend holding it precisely on rub spot, thick leather between to save paint, and a couple shots from right side with 2lb. hammer, just enough to create a half dollar size flat spot on tube radius, cannot be seen with tire on. I ground fender side braces inside lip off from rear fender brace hoop, down and around to rear strut bolt, ears are still intact, and fender sides at rear I pryed out maybe 1/8" by hand, not noticeable. The C fender and brace narrows at rear, only the narrowed section (ears) needed the inner lip removed. Tire needs to be completely deflated to remove/install, with some wiggling. I just need Moly to put it back on for the last time, will update after test drive. Looks great, can't wait!

can't wait to see it and here the ride report!
plug the camera in with the USB and the computer should automatically recognize it and ask if you want to open it and view the files... or you can go through "My Computer" in the start menu and open the camera like a removable drive... then you can save them onto your hard drive. From there you can email them to me and I'll post them or you can upload them to someplace like photobucket for posting. Hope that helps.

Re: General Altimax HP 215/65R16 Install & Ride, "Wildside"
Thanks Nodak, I have a tall 140/70 up front so the stance is good, with the bottom frame tubes about 1/4"-1/2" higher in front. With the stock size front tire, it would be going downhill bigtime, my rear axle height increased at least 3/4". I'll post ride comments later, it was great, I'm sold. It's no peg scrapin, frame draggin, Lowrider anymore, with only the tires changed! Maintenance items.

Re: General Altimax HP 215/65R16 Install & Ride, "Wildside"
The tire and I, broke in about the same time, took about 20 mins. Feels like I have a new clutch, the first time I downshifted, I almost went over the handlebars, so next I banged 2nd and went the other way, hooks up like velcro! Rides fantastic, that tall tire shrinks potholes, flattens frost heaves, and the width straddles ruts. Handling seems fine, the most noticeable difference in that dept. is at real low speed manuvering the front end needs more turning, no big deal. I scared the shit out of a women walking across the gas station parking lot. While getting my Darkside wings, I came a little closer than intended, naturally the drama queen overeacted, she needed a fresh pair a panti-hose with her mocha latte. I didn't notice pulling or tracking, so far, and I was running crowned roads, I didn't really think about it, I was enjoying the ride too much. I did notice what used to look like a big 140 up front, looks puny now, it's dwarfed! And when the dwarf gets caught by a rut or seam, Big Ass rolls over and straightens it out! My gearing is slightly taller, I haven't checked the speedo, but I never checked it stock. I've heard they're off, and the taller tire should go towards correcting it. I may be overcompensating on that issue. No rubs with shocks on pos. 1. When clearance was checked with shocks off, after mods, tire tread went right up against underside of fender, with no side contact, and the shocks bottom out before it goes that deep. I'm very happy with it, the real low speed manuvering just needs getting used to, which is nothing compared to all the advantages. Darkside Rocks!

Thanks! The Darkerside of pleasure? :pirat: Makes sense, Bigger tire, Bigger shadow. Sounds like you'll have to go 225 now, Plasma cutter time! I'm calling this one, Wildside, I think I'll change my user name to that. I feel pregnant! no one else uses their real name. Thanks for the warm welcome guys!
Go for it!!!!!!!! Sounds good...."Wildside"...............

Re: General Altimax HP 215/65R16 Install & Ride, "Wildside"
I did this to my 1300C but looking at the date you posted this you did yours first. i have bben looking into doing this for about 4 months but i wated untill my dunny wore out . i went with a Nexen cp641 in 215/65R15 and the stock rim brought the sidewalls in just enough that i didn't have to dish the swingarm much. If i go to a 225 then I'll dish it some more and see if it will go in.
Glad to meet another person that isen't botherd by modding a swingarm like me . and you were first.
Your friend, Horse

Re: General Altimax HP 215/65R16 Install & Ride, "Wildside"
Hey, Man called Horse, I like your Logo mod. I only put a slight flat spot on my swingarm, and I was fitting the tire for clearance at max. tire pressure (51psi.) just in case I wanted to run it there. Now that I'm running under 30 with great success, maybe I didn't need the left side swingarm mod. You can't see it unless the wheel is off, and it didn't hurt anything, so no BD. Ride On bro!

here you go Dan
[darkside]https://2img.net/h/i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg105/horseman8m/215dark-001.jpg[/darkside]
copy this and past it into your sig box remove the darkside from the front and back and replace it with img and you got it.
besides not all 215 is 215 wide some are wider then others so if I look around I could find a 225 that will fit the fender.
https://mcdarksiders.forumotion.com/general-discussion-f6/tire-size-not-tire-size-t1156.htm
this will let you know tire co. don't use the 215 as a mesurement but only as a name.
