The Toyo TPT 205/60/16 is on the bike,03 1800r and ridden for about 60 miles. All i can say is that everything I read on this site is true to one
extent or the other. I do like it,it is different, but not bad different. I will get used to it quick, a few more curves and I feel the confidense
will b there for good! Just cant figure why it took so long to get to it!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to all

OK, it is getting more and more like peer-pressure here. I am gonna go ahead and make the plunge with I get to the beach. I have the tire, I have had it for a while. I just wanted to get a little more wear on the MC tire before changing it. I am hearing too many positives to not to do it.

Keep the reviews coming.

i have about 600 miles on on 205 douglas now and the more i ride it the better i like it. it did feel a little different at first, a good differnet. i was also a little hesitate on the twisties, now watch out. i have more confidence now in the twisties than i have ever had with the old POS m/t. What tire are you running on the front? How many miles on it? Make sure your shock bushings are good. Any elongating or movement they should be replaced. All these things effect handling.
I replaced my front tire with a 140 and replaced my shock bushings and it rides like a bike should. No leaning or turning issues. I don't even know it's there....

Are you telling us that you have a CT on the front of the bike? or a wider MC tire on the front. HuMMMM.

Everything seems to check out fine on the bike, the front tire is just a metzler 150/80r/17. The only thing i notice is that the bike seems to want to veer just slightly right. Of course I know the crown of the road is at play but im still trying different air pressures to see what happens.
I started at 40psi and just tried 41 but no difference, any comments would help but im still loving it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you got the right idea... try going to 45 and see if you feel a difference... if you do and find something about it you don't like drop back to 43 or go up a little more...

About ready to make the switch... so with that tire did you have to make any mods to the fender rails or anything? I usually am running fully loaded with hard bags and trunk pulling a camper. Average about 10k miles a season and putting new tires on every spring. Any info you can give would be great.

it kinda varies by weight and model and shock length... if you have stock length shocks or longer you probly will be fine with a 65 series unless all that weight bottoms them out... it only take a minute to trim the "ears" the little bits that stick out off the inner fender brace while you have the tire off... touch them up with a shot of paint to help discourage rust and then you won't have to worry about it!

Welcome to the board!

Is it safe to say that if I have the stock shocks I should be able to use the 205/60/16 on the 1800 R with no need to grind anything on the inside of the wheel well.

I did not have to do any mods at all, I did wait to inflate the tire after install but it was simple install and air. Be sure and check and grease your bearings, I will be sure and try 45psi and see what happens though the max inflation for this tire is only 44psi!!! What do u think???

Well, looks like I am going dark. I went to Sears and bought the MC lift. Now the big decision, which tire to buy. I have read about lots of different tires and everybody seems to be happy of what they bought. I just have to go and buy one. Any recommendation on what to buy? Something that I could pick locally from like Discount Tires, Walmart ...

Thanks again this looks like a nice place to hang out.

Got any pictures of the tire on the bike? Also what size did you go with? and did you mounted yourself or did you take it somewhere?

I'm on a 2002 1800R with the stock shocks with hitch doc hitch 2up pulling camper with Mutazu hardbags and trunk. I really don't want to trim the fender rails if I don't have to but will if needed. Still have some reservations about making the switch in regards to handling, extra wear and tear on transmission or bearings?

Dawg, the rig you are running is the darkside dream. I am running with HD bags and trunkwith the fairing. I run 2 up a lot and have no issues at all with my tire rubbing. I am running a toyo proxies t4 205-55-16 on a 1300 with the foots mod. I did not have to trim anything under my fender to run this tire and I definately put it through its paces this weekend, 1650 mile of about every condition you can think of with the exception of snow and ice(thankfully Laughing ) lots of riders roads that were run aggressively and this tire stuck and never once rubbed inside the fender. I have never heard of anyone having issues with their trannys due to a dark side. These bikes are pretty well bullet proof.
Good luck and if you have any more questions or concerns throw them out here.

See you out there
