Put my gps on my bike the other day. It says my bike speedometer is 5 mph fast. Bike says I'm doing 70, GPS says I'm doing 65. I'm more inclined to believe the gps. Waiting to find one of those speedometers along the side of the road to confirm. Just hope it AGREES with one of the two! Very Happy

my GPS is always dead on with the timing system at the track. The only time it is innacuate is during quick acceleration /decelleration. the display on my GARMIN is slow to show the changes. But at a steady speed , it is always accurate.

too funny Steve-o,

Mine says the same thing. I test my GPS in the CAR and it is dead on.
So, I know my GPS is accurate now. Mine is 5mph difference as well.
So, when I don't have the GPS on, I know if I'm going 70 on the speedo that I'm actually only going 65.

The VTX's have the speedo problem too. I read on OB that in the original Hondas sent to the US that a mathematical error was made when they were calculating the labeling of the speedo. The story went on to say that Honda never changed it and has always been off. If I remember correctly it was off by 9% so the faster you go the bigger the difference between indicated and real speeds.

I never did any research on my own to validate the origin of the claim.
