Size of CT for a 1800s?

I saw that the wheel is the same thats on the 1300 (I think), but can I still use a 205? What side wall ratio would come closest to the stock tire size? What's the most used/recommended tire for the spoke wheel?

Remember, If you were doing a 205/65/16 Take the first number (205) X ratio of % sidewall (.65) = and it will give you one side wall height. Add it to itself and this will give the total height of the sidewalls. Do you motorcycle the same way and you can determine what height will match you stock motorcycle tire.

One more thing, when looking at CT's do you want as narrow as you can get between beads or wide? Which one will be easiest to set?

If you own a 1800 you have a lot more options that us 1300's. Our rims are 4" wide and you guys have 5 1/2" wide. Now the trick is to go your own way or try a tire guys have tested and are happy with, that's why I posted the link that Duc put together. It has all the tested tires on it.

But the narrower bead to bead is the best!

So the 1800's spoke wheels are wider than spoke wheel's on the 1300's? Sorry I've had this bike about a week and don't really know that much about it yet. Always had sportbike's so this is a whole new ball game.

I am sorry for the advice, I didn't know you had spokes or didn't realize it. Now the spokes as I understand it are the same size as the 1300's. So, will take the same tires as a 1800! Which does present some limited tire selections. You should take the same tires as we use. Plus you need either to seal you rims and we have a great link one of our members did on sealing his rims to go tubeless or use the stock motorcycle tube and go that route. Both have been done with 110% success!

Sometimes with those tires you will have problems getting them to fit right. They look sweet though for sure.. Good Ridin'

Let me know if you can get it to seat. I just put on an altimax and it absolutely will not seat on the spoke rim. Stupid safety strip. Had it up to 75lbs, tried heating, lube, whacking it with a mallet, etc. I've inflated and deflated it about 20 times now trying to get it to seat and it just won't do it. I HAVE to get it seated today or buy a different tire. I'm leaving at 5am tomorrow on a 2k mile ride.

Well crap. Just now realized that this thread is 5 years old. I'm sure you've gotten it seated by now. lol
