Best 205/70R15
Been awhile since I've been on the site (too much fun riding around) so I'll cut to the chase. Want to put a 205/70R15 on my 2005 VTX c. Any preferences? Any gotchas? Thanks for any comments. - MechE

Re: Best 205/70R15
I've run a General Grabber and a Michelin HydroEdge.
Both great tires, I'd prolly choose the Michelin again as it seems to be the smoother riding tire of the two.

As soon as my bike is good to go I need a 205 also. It will be the Michelin.

I put Michelin Hydroedge on my wifes car and they work well, seasonally, quiet and wear. I've read that the edges on this tire seems to wear our faster by a reviewed. This might be due to alignment issues on their part. Or just possibly the edges wear out sooner due to them grabbing more on turns - for a m/c a good thing. Either way, with the better cost and longer life of the tire, any replacement after 10k is still a savings. I'll still check out General Grabbers and GYTT along with a few others before I decide. Thanks again for your comments.

Installed MHE about 3k miles ago and I know why it is one of the most popular tires for DS.

Michelin It Is
Thanks guys! Just ordered a Michelin Hydroedge for $131 and will install it this Thurday and have 1300 running again Friday night. This is the third tire I've had on my bike. The first was the original Dunflop. Sucked up a roofing nail. The second, another Dunflop and sucked up a cotter key. The third was a Kumho which was a much improved Darksider tire. Now I am looking forward to a wider tire with this Michelin. Does anyone know of anything I need to do with drive shaft flange (such as moly grease or the like?) or how often to replace the right angle gear lube? Thanks again for all the great advice and I will post some pics when completed.

Might as well coat the splines with Honda Moly paste while you've got the tire off. That will hold it for another 10,000 miles.
I change my final drive grease every other oil change (~10,000 miles). Honda says you don't have to do it till 24,000, but it's cheap and easy to do.
I use Mobile 1 75-90 synthetic.

Bought the HydroEdge
Purchased the 205-70R15 Michelin HydroEdge. It installed easier than the Kumho and did correct the speedo. Your advice to reverse the muffler bolt was also good advice. Also had to remove the tire air before installation as prescribed. I put about 120 miles on it yesterday at 38 psi. Great ride, though a little more bouncier. I will probably run it at 36 psi.
Just thought I would give all of you my thanks for doing the leg work on these wider tires. Your experimentation and diligence made my job of installing my wire tire a breeze. Thanks!!
