Dinner with Dark Shadows
So tonight we had our little shin dig at Chili's.
I won't speak for the other guys, but I had a great time. It's always good to see some nice machines and get idea's for what you want to do with yours. We had a good time and had a few laughs. From the sound of things, Steve-O may join the darkside this weekend, but I'll let him come out of the closet on his own.
I hope your pictures of the tires are better then mine David, cuz only one even turned out. But here are the pics I got.
ttexastim's 165/80-15; DarkSide-Shadow's 205/65-15; Steve-O's stock 170/80-15 MC tire.
And here are the riders:
Steve-O; DarkSide-Shadow; ttexasim
Great times fella's. I look forward to some good times in the future.

Had a great time and learned a bunch. If all goes well and the weather holds, I'll be headed to the dark side on Saturday. Get a little riding in too!

Re: Dinner with Dark Shadows
One thing Tim and I noticed about this picture was the contact area. Notice where the dirt stops on his tire (left) and my tire (right). I have a mc tire on an he has a 165 CT. No matter what anybody says, we don't use the whole tire. Whether we have a MC tire or a CT, we all use the very top of the tire. So, using a CT, you get just as much contact patch, and you don't have to fear about not having any contact on twisties.
Now if you RACE, you might use the whole tire. But around town and regular crusing that Tim and I do, NO. A CT makes sense for us because they are every bit as good as a CT, they cost less, we have more options, and we have to change tires less....unless you are David and like to change tires on a weekly basis....
Looking forward to Saturday when I go to the dark side.....
Awesome pictures guys!

Re: Dinner with Dark Shadows
Jerry,
I LOVE the windshield. I wouldn't go to another. It blocks my knees pretty good and I can ride down to 30-35 degree's with just my deerskin gloves on. Below 30 and I actually have to get my military arctic mitten shells and put over them. Also, the old one I had was an ancient Enterprise brand on. This new one looks much more aerodynamic and the gas mileage is telling the tale. So far I've filled the tank 2 times since I put it on, and the trend is that I'm getting about 5MPG more with this new windshield. I'll need a few more fillups to tell for sure, but it looks like I'm getting more miles for less gas. Always a good thing.
BadMoon,
In Texas, you have to have your state inspection sticker visible on the bike. As always, everything is bigger in Texas, even the inspection stickers. Since most of us are against sticking the sticker on our paint, you get that little thing that attaches to the license, and stick it there. My bike was from out of state, and the first time I got it inspected, I had to come back to the place. I didn't have on of those things, and by law they couldn't just give me the sticker to put on later ... so I had to leave .... find one ... put it on ... and come back. Pain in the BUTT!!!

Re: Dinner with Dark Shadows
Tim, Thanks for the info, I e-mailed National Cycle and they did a test fit on a VTX. Said it fit good around the headlight, but didn't leave a lot of room around the hand guard section.
All in all they said it should work. I offered to do a life test for them a write up a review, but they didn't respond to that.....I'm kinda cheap. I will always try to get it for nothing before I buy...
Thanks
Jerry
