CT for BMW K1200 LT
Hi,
I am new to the site. I waned to find a car tire to use on my 1999 BMW K1200LT. I currently have a Bridgestone Battleax BT0-021 on the rim, 160/70 R 17 79V. Could also use a Metzler ME880 marathon motorcycle tire, 160/70 B 17 M/C 79V.
Can anyone recommend a car tire, or let me know how to find out the right size.
Thanks,
Dan

Re: CT for BMW K1200 LT
Sully,
I'm not really a technical guy at all. Best thing to do would be to post again, with details
of the wheel you're using. Hopefully someone will chime in.
Till then I hope the following will help;
Check your wheel regarding the width.
Then check the tire size calculators to see what differences will be between the required tire
and your present one.
Also very important, especially if you want to go a bit wider, is the construction of the fender.
Sometimes it's possible to go a bit wider, but is a bit of grinding needed to get the clearance.
Check these calculators;

(Scroll down since your tire size is not mentioned in the list)

A 185/60/17 would be the tire that comes in height as close as possible to your present tire,
but can your wheel and fender handle it ?
Hope this will help you a bit.
Robert.
