Darkside tire opinions for my N
All the research I did on a tire for my F is now pretty much useless since I traded it for an N. I for some reason don't like the look of the GYTT and would prefer the Yokohama Avid ENvigor 205/60R16. Any thoughts as to whether this would be a good tire or not? I would like to put either a metz 880 or battleax up front.

should work great for you and pick a front tire you like better... I have not run a Metz yet, but like the Avon I have so far...

Re: Darkside tire opinions for my N
Nodak,
I have a question for you concerning your 215 tire on an N rear fender. Did you have to do any special mods? I went and looked at the Yokohama tire and it has very rounded shoulders so should make an excellent darkside tire. I think I may be able to get a 215 on the back of my N. Take a look at the specs and let me know what you think.
Since my rim will be one inch narrower I think getting it to 8.3 should not be too tough. Or should I just stick with the known 205 to avoid any issues.
Last question: front tire is a 150/80-17. what would be a good replacement up front for that size or something similar in size that wil fit an N. Either front or rear tires, just want something that will not have any issues in wet weather.

Re: Darkside tire opinions for my N
well, I see you have already found the 8.3" width max and are aware, so other than that, it'd be up to you if you want to try and and see if it will fit. If you are right and the section width works out to 8.3 or less once mounted then you should be good, if not... well, you might have a new swing on your hands, or wanna do like horseman8 did and dimple the drive shaft tube a little bit for clearance.
I did nothing special to the N fender or inner brace to get the 215 to fit, because it works out to being something close to 8.2" wide mounted....

Re: Darkside tire opinions for my N
Looks like the tread width is the same 6.2 for both the 205 and 215 seems like the 205 would be the better choice since I know it will fit without any issues. Only other differences are load capacity and overall height. I have a 1300FD to install at a later time should help with speedometer and I don't think .2 in height is going to make or break board dragging. As far as load range do I really need 3/4 ton rating? Would give me bragging rights though to go 215...
And a revisit on the missed question: front tire is a 150/80-17. what would be a good replacement up front for that size or something similar in size that wil fit an N. Either front or rear tires, just want something that will not have any issues in wet weather.

Re: Darkside tire opinions for my N
IMO any of the front tires out there will be fine as long as you stay away from the stock dunflops!
Sounds like you got a good plan, I'd go with the 205 if I had the choice. Bigger tire don't really matter tucked up under that fender anyway!
