Dec has been a snowy month for us..
The weekend of Dec 4th was the start to big snows for Southwestern Va..
Well Dec has been a very snowy month so far...With a total of 33" of snow ...
Here's some photos from The Dec 4 snow storm that was 4 days long..
And dumped 15" on us .. LOL The weathermen called for only 3" ..
Boy was he WRONG !!!
Ok HB doesn't have his helmet on yet... But by the time he was finished blowing the drive, and some of you know how long it is..He wished he had it on ...
I take this shot each year..
The snow was getting deep..
Looking from the house deck. My classic shot of our place
Heading down the driveway to clear the gates..
A little farther down..
Gate opened..I didn't have to go all the way down ,as there nothing for my shovel to do..
OK now to walk back up..
Then I checked the stock..
Dixie and Bingo full brother and sister.. Their Sire(dad) is still with me also..There Dam(mom) Died a few years back .. Lighting strike :'(
This is Annie she was from my top QHBM..And my JR (sire) Who passed away a few years back old age..
He was my baby boy...I miss him alot..He was my riding horse..Yes I rode a stallion..They are NOT like any other horse (mare or Gelding)
A few of the Cattle..At least they ALL get along with the horses..They are all in close quarters this year..
Then I walked I shot this one..
Then I wanted to check out where we had put another round bale.. That was all gone..
After digging out the gates pushing /moving snow it was time for chores again.. LOL that's a carrot in my hand ... Our old Stallion likes them..
Chores are finished ..I took this from the bucket of the tractor..
Look no hands!! :lol3
AH back in the warm house..
I hope you enjoyed your walk in the snow with me...
Take Care
Tracy

That's not really much snow, just a light dusting. I'm surprised to see a blower to move such a small amount when you can drive right over it with a car. It's nice to see other parts of the country finally enjoying a little of the white stuff too!!

Your pics make me shiver! Actually, we got a 2" dusting here in Atlanta - the first white Christmas since 1865 - but I was over by Savannah, so all I saw was a few flakes that melted. Missed my chance to try riding in snow with a CT!

Re: Dec has been a snowy month for us..
Nice pics Tracy, looks likea nice spread y'all have. 15 inches is a respecable snowfall in my book. An inch is enough to ruin my riding for a while I hate these midwest winters. I can handle the cold riding but the never knowing what the road conditions will be like from one road to the next really bites. I have about an eight mile trek to get to decent roads when it's nasty out and I just can't see crashing in the name of stupidity Been there done that and have the scars to show for it
Thanks for sharing a glimpse of your world with us.
See you out there

LadyDraco,
Just jerkin' your chain! Yes, a foot of snow is fun. I love to play with my plow as often as I can, so snow keeps my busy. It seems that alot of the country can share the experience now. Let it snow!!

Thanks for the little slice of your life, Tracy. Sometimes I envy those of you with all that space and all those animals....then I think of how hard you have to work and appreciate my little one acre. Beautiful pictures.
Re: Dec has been a snowy month for us..
Well how about a little weather report up date... We are getting hit not to bad just 8" of fresh snow...
Since the start of the snows our total is now up to 55" ....
Thank Goodness last week most of the snow melted ...But what is in the woods...
So right now only 8" is on the driveway.. And tomorrow we might work it or just wait till Monday..
Another storm is due Tuesday...

Re: Dec has been a snowy month for us..
Well they say we are to get somewhere from 4"-12" Our mountains make it a tad hard for them this year for some reason..
It was to snow all day today .. But nothing
When we finished up with chores this evening it was just staring to snow real fine....
Have fun plowing .....That snow PD
