I'm changing my rear tire 2 to 3 time a year so the darkside sounds so much better $$$ but I have a dauntless hitch on my VTX1800R so can I keep it or do I have to buy a outside hitch?

What is your clearance between the hitch & the current tire, and what is the tire size?
