Getting the bike dialed in ...
I installed heavier clutch springs last night. I was worried that the car tire might be putting a strain on the clutch , but a quick look at the steels showed everything was still ok. I also put a stiffer rear spring on to help out the suspension since i am a bit heavier than the 150 lb rider that kawasaki set the bike up for. I shortened up the wheel base 3 inches and that really helped with traction.
This bike is really getting fast , even with poor racing surfaces. If I run out of parts for the new race motor I might head to the dragstrip and make a couple of passes to see how this new set up works. Maybe I can get my first 9 second pass.

Great man, Keep us up on how it's going! We may make you our poster child with the darkside. I think this darkside is going to help you go where you couldn't go before. Just listening to you, it might get all that HP you got to the ground.

I am a little concerned about the amount of lift that the bigger tire will produceat 200 mph. I guess I wont know until I get to run at the land speed trials in April. Anyone out there an expert in aerodynamics ? I can use all the help I can get.

+1.
Still think there's no replacement for displacement. Then add the nitrous.
Re: Getting the bike dialed in ...
I am too cheap to do a stroker and big bore setup. It would cost is about the same as a turbo , and I built the nitrous setup for $250. Without replacing the cast pistons a stage 1 turbo kit is not making any more power than my nitrous setup. While it would be nice to have the power all the time and not have to refill the bottle I an just going to wait until I blow this motor up and need to make it bigger:-)

Well, I was kinda referring to cars/trucks about the displacement.
I envy ya...i'm a speed junky but afraid to get into the sport bikes...might like it too much and I have too many high $$ hobbies now as it is...plus rather build my classic truck at some point.

Long stroke motors make the same peak power , just lower down the rpm range. Flow and efficiency make more power than just displacement. I have small block motors with Nascar SB2 heads that make more power than the big block chevys I used to run. I will be testing a 427 SB2 next week , and I am not sure that it will make more peak power than the 348 SB2 motor, but should be a torque monster. I am hoping that is has enough to get the old 67 camaro to a 200 mph run.

Racing a bike at the Land Speed events is inexpensive . You just need leathers and spend a little time on the safety stuff. The Texas Mile is close to ya , and Maxton, NC may be an option for the east coast guys.

Roy,
Hopefully because the front tire is breaking up all the wind, that the rear tire will not get any lift. If it was the front tire, I would really be worried. Well take it easy to you get it feeled out!
Or do you need my to show up on my 1300 and show you how it's done and make a flying run for you...
