Well, probably just like all the newbies I read all the posts learned as much as I could and then made the leap.
I got a Goodyear Assurance 205 65 16 tire off Ebay for a little more than a hundred bucks and free shipping. It was delivered in less than a week.
I went to Amazon for my balance beads. I got 6mm 0.12gram beads made by TSDsports. I got a 5000 pack and it was probably enough to balance 50 tires ! ( So if anybody needs some I'll sell ya some of mine for a buck plus whatever shipping. )
If you are in the Arizona vicinity I live in a real nice mountain town called Payson. You'd never believe you are in Arizona. Huge pine trees, mountain streams, lakes, breath taking mountain views, cool clean air, and just plain beautiful ! I took it to Woody's Performance Motorsports here in town and he did the job in less than a couple of hours and for a real fair price. Give him a call at 928-478-7169 and he'll "get 'er done" for ya in short order.
I brought it home and am still getting used to the ride, but so far so good and I LIKE IT ! No rubs on the tire from anything on the bike frame.
My ride a 2000 Honda VTX 1800 C
Here's my balance beads and tire pic

Glad you crossed over! Sounds beautiful where you live.
Just curious, I didn't know vtx 1800 had a 2000 year?
