Hi all, Been lurking and watching for awhile. I haven't been able to find anything online for a 17 on a 4 1/2" rim. Is there anything out there?

What are you riding and how wide do you want to go with your tire?

It's a 2,000 Hd deuce. I am tired of pulling the wheel. The stock dunlop is 6.48 wide 25.58 wide. The metzler I tried was a little narrower. It rode better but is shot after~6,000 miles. I saw on cycle chat were someone did this. I read the dyna post here. My rim is cast 4.5". Some deuce riders have gone up to later 5.5 rims with 180's or 200 with narrower pulley and belt change. I am not really after wider tire, something that will last. Thanks.

Did some checking and can't find any ct that will work. Your tire width is too narrow to find a ct in a 17 inch wheel. I found a 195/45/17, but that is a whole 2 inches shorter than your stock tire and that will throw your speedo way off and your engine will be screaming at highway speeds. A 205/55/17 is just about the right hight, but a lot wider. If you really want to run a ct looks like you will have to do the drive belt mod. I'm pretty sure that if others are stuffing a 200 mt on your model bike, that a 205 ct should fit also.

Thanks for looking into this. I am into giving this a try. So a 195/45/17 will fit a 4.5" rim. Any idea how much rpm change that would be? It's rare for me to run much over 60mph other than passing situations. The do have sprocket options also. Do you have a link to see the tire? I did stumble on a small new crossover suv type car that had 4.5 rims. Think it was sold in europe? Couldn't dig up any specs on replacement tires.... Any input on whether going down to 16" 3.5" - 5.5"wide rim would offer more options? My driveway is ~ 1/2 mile of gravel. Our roads are poor. Thought a crossover might hold up better.

The problem with 16" and 17" rims....they come off usually performance cars or heavy duty trucks and don't really come in narrow width's. I have been trying to find something that will mount up with modding the HD for my father in law. Haven't found anything yet!
Good luck and keep us posted.
Thanks......................bobby

At 4.5" wheel width, you would like to stay at 5.5" or less bead width. HD is a tough animal to match up.
