ok i have it done to 2 tires. for my VTX 1300R 2007

the Pirelli P4 205/70/15 about 82 bucks form tire rack.com

or

The Michelin HydroEdge 205/70-15 about 107 also from tire rack.com

So who has ridden both and has some suggestions?

I know from when my dad raced cars that Pirelli makes great tires, and so does Michelin. If it was just a money issue i would look hard at the Pirelli.

I looked at the specs and reviews on both and they about the same. help a brother out please.

Also going with the Metz 880 up front.

Also do i need to use dyno beeds for the rear tire and or the front?

I run the Hydro edge now and would readily replace it with another. Good but not great. Although it has saved my bacon more than once. Try the perelli and give a review of it.

See you out there

+1 Try it, it could be the next tire everyone has to have.

Congrats on your choice to go darkside and just like everyone else has said. Go for it! Not sure about the Pirelli, but you could always be the first!

Secondly I would run the dyna beads in both front and rear! Now if you are adventurous.....you can always run air soft pellets (the .12gram) size and it takes 228 count to make an oz. Use the same ratio per front and rear car tire just like dyna beads. Plus you have to install them as the tire is just one side and before the other side is mounted because they will NOT go thru the valve stem. A lot cheaper and easier to get too!!!

Hello - Brand new to Darkside. I too am replacing tires for my 2004 VTX 1300C and am considering either Dunlop Elite3's (do they make then anymore?) and the Michelin HydroEdge.

Have many that keep asking me why am I putting a car tire on motorcycle. Good friend who owned his own wrench shop suggested I get Michelin HydroEdge. I just put these exact same tires on my Honda CRV (SUV) - go figure. Have 35 lbs. in my tires and I don't like them. You feel every bump. Also, in Michigan, they like to follow the rain grooves in the pavement.

Any suggestions as to who has them, do you like them, where did you purchase them from (I see on here that Tirerack is listed a few times). I can get these Hydroedge Tires from Discount Tires locally for $118 as of today's date.

Thanks for any help and/or suggestions.

Discount tire might even mount it for you. They did mine. I would do the 70 series. Its has a narrower bead width and is easier to seat. Have them clean the rims good first, or ask if you can.

JMO......I have no issues with your rear tire choice Michelin Hydroedge, but the Dunnie on the front. Heck NO! You use that tire when you have no other brand to buy! Try another brand front tire is my suggestion, you will NOT be sorry!

Twin 1300 - Do you mean don't do the Dunlop 70 on the front, or don't do the Dunlop Elite3 on the front?

I am looking to try to find a Dunlop Elite3 on the front that isn't so narrow like the (Elite 3 Touring Bias MM90-19, 407973, $94.65 from Motorcycle Maniac Store). Have a call into Dunlop main website for an answer.

Also - I am leaning to purchase the Michelin HydroEdge 195/65R15, 89T for the rear, and everywhere I turn, the price keeps creeping up. Need to purchase now!

Twin1300 Awaiting your answer - with baited breath.

Ride strong & ride safe everyone.

I believe Twin said he would never ever buy a dunflop tire. I'm with him, they are the worst tires made IMHO.

I have to agree with everyone else on the DUNCRAP tires
I also will never buy another one.

I would go with the 205 65 or the 205 70 on the rear of the 1300, the 195 is a lower profile. Unless thats what you want.

To be honest, I guess I didn't know what I wanted or could handle, and trusted a very good friend to suggest the tire.

I purchased Metzeler ME 880 Marathon in front, and put Michelin HydroEdge (Green) P195/65R, 89T on the back and love it!!! Took a chance with a mechanic I did not know to put the tire on, but came highly recommended, and things worked out great so far. Discount Tire in Michigan would not mount tire. Only have 130 miles on tires. Haven't experienced rain yet, so waiting on pins and needles to get more wear on tire before seeing what that puppy can do on the back! Very Happy
