Texas to Arkansas last weekend
So I did it. My first real ride of the year.
I headed up to Fayetteville AR last Friday. I ran out of daylight in Oklahoma, so I just took the Indian turnpike to I40. Got there in 5 hours. That ride was way chilly. It dipped down below 50, and even though I was prepared, my toes got a bit cold.
Did some work on Saturday helping my sister in law hang some doors in her house.
The ride home ... WOW ... just wow!
To answer your question on another post Steve-0, the colors were AMAZING! Arkansas was full of rolling hills as far as the eye could see with red, orange, yellow, and brown leaves. Simply gorgeous. As I got closer to Oklahoma, the hills were replaced with 30 foot high trees on both sides of the road. Colors were still amazing.
Due to me not seeing my family in 5 days, I opted to take the turnpike again since it would be faster. I had wanted to take the more eastern route past beavers bend and broken bow, but I'll save that one for another day.
It was a great ride! If you can get out right now, I'd recommend it.

I also forgot to mention that the roads are much more curvy in AR, and I didn't even burst into flames once!

Re: Texas to Arkansas last weekend
saw the "Arkansas" and had to reply!
I grew up in the Mountain Home area (more specifically in Mtn Home) at any rate I try to make at least one trip a year back home just to ride the bike on some awesome roads. Here is a map that has some great roads on it http://www.motorcycleroads.us/regions/ar_central.html
If you get the chance head farther into the north central part of the state...you wont be disappointed!
