Which brand for new fron tire?

I desperatly need a new front tire and am ordering one REAL soon (next day or so) Which brand do you people suggest? I ride a 1300C and need a 110/90-19. I am looking at Metzler 880 for $105 and Avon Venom for $112 both from Cycle gear with free shipping. Cheapest I have found so far. Cycle gear has a 20% off sale going right now. Other brands to look at? Of course I want lowest cost available but am willing to spend for handling and life of tire.

A really good friend claimed only 7000 miles out of his 880 front and swears he will never own another Metzler. He has a Pirelli on his front now. I am leaning Avon Venom.

I am a big fan of my metz. I am on my second and will go back again. Avon has had some problems delaminating.

a guy over at hondashadow.net got 30k out of his metz,i'm about to need one as well and i'm going to try one.of course he allso stated he got 15k out of his rear m/t on his 1100 spirit. only way i see that happening is rolling like grandma lol.still, 7k out of a front tire seems kinda vague to me.i'm going to say you should at least get 15k out of any front tire,unless its a bicycle.

I put an Avon Venom on my front. 11K miles so far and still a lot of tread left. I've been real happy with it.

my last metz was 15,000.....

Question; I looked at the Spitfire and I found a bias ply for $56 @ Bike Bandit. Can I run a bias ply front and a radial rear?

well in that case,i'll put another spitfire on my bike to replace the 25 yr old lol.still has quite of bit of tread for 31k miles.im basically replacing it for safety reasons.the spitfire that was on the back before the c/t,they dont even make that particular one anymore

Yes you can, it's radial on the front and bias on the rear that is not recommended.

Pirelli has a new cruiser tire Night Dragon, pricey though, the best price I found on the 140/70B18 fr. was $150

So what do you think I ride! Of course! I just told you that I have the Spitfire on the front and you know I run the darkside rear! I wouldn't recommend it if I didn't think it was the best! But, do your own homework.
